NEWBURYPORT, Mass. -- Police say an illegal alien was driving without a license in Ipswich Wednesday morning when he hit an 11-year-old girl with his pickup truck.

The defendant's attorney called it a simple accident. However, things became more complicated Wednesday when police say they discovered the suspect is an illegal alien and wanted for deportation.

35-year-old Wanderson DaSilva-Neto was in handcuffs after police say he drove his pickup truck out of his driveway on his way to work this morning and struck an 11-year-old girl who was riding her bike to school.

An illegal alien who was driving without a license hit and dragged an 11-year-old Ipswich girl with his truck as she was riding her bicycle to school yesterday, authorities said.

Wanderson DaSilva-Neto, 35, a Brazilian national who was wanted by immigration authorities, was pulling out of his High Street driveway shortly after 7 a.m. on his way to work when his 1998 GMC pickup truck struck and dragged the screaming girl about four feet, a witness told police.

The Ipswich Middle School student, who was not wearing a helmet, was conscious and sitting on the sidewalk when officers arrived.

She was taken to Beverly Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

DaSilva-Netto's attorney says his client should not be held because it was only a simple accident.

A simple accident? This illegal alien invader is driving on our roads, with no valid license or identification, and drove into an 11-year old girl while illegally in our country. This is the kind of messed up crap that makes me want to pack my bags and move to a country that actually enforces its laws. Deport this slime ball now!
