Population Group Criticizes California Senate
Population Group Criticizes California Senate, Appeals to Governor for Help
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) President Diana Hull criticized action taken by a state senate committee on Thursday supporting legislation that would prohibit the state of California and cities and counties from using an electronic employment verification system known as E-Verify.
E-Verify (formerly the Basic Pilot/Employment Eligibility Verification Program) is an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration that allows employers to check the work status of new hires online by comparing information from an employee's I-9 form against SSA and DHS databases.
"This is catering to law breakers and in opposition to majority opinion, as Mr. Fuentes well knows," Hull said. "E-Verify was created to allow employers to easily check to see if their new hires are eligible to work in our country and the Fuentes bill, AB2076, would bar the state and local communities from using it. The excuses Mr. Fuentes gives about 'errors in the data base' and 'discriminatory impact' are not valid. DHS Secretary Chertoff claims a 99.5% accuracy rate.
"And, let's be honest," Hull continued, "As E-Verify would obviously identify illegal aliens in the work force, the only discrimination would be against those who have no right to work in this country. And that is the real objection to the program and the reason for this legislation. It would easily and accurately identify illegal alien workers."
CAPS intends to send an appeal to Governor Schwarzenegger to veto AB2076 if it reaches his desk and also sign an executive order, as President Bush did on June 9th, that requires all businesses contracting with the State of California to certify their use of E-Verify.
"When our taxes are used to pay wages," Hull said, "Those wages should be paid to American workers or legal immigrants with a work visa. The E-Verify system has made it easy to comply with federal employment laws and should be used by all federal, state and local governments. Denying jobs to illegal aliens is the only way to send a deterrent message to the world, do not to come to America. If we can eliminate the employment magnet, that will go a long way to easing pressure on the border, and removing those already here illegally."

Oh my God! Commom sense is alive and well! Everything she said was right on and no one can say her remarks are based on racism or what ever other card pro illegals and their supporters want to use as an excuse to stay here in the USA illegally.
