Excuses, excuses and more excuses. Yep, it's all related because it shows his true feelings on the topic. Trump is not adverse to expanding our visa worker programs now nor has he ever been.

Trump never said he was adverse to these short term visas for low wage seasonal and agricultural jobs, so long as the come, work and leave.
Those "low wage" jobs as you call them are jobs American will do if given the opportunity. This is all about cheap labor for business interest. Those businesses, Trump's included, should be forced to hire American workers. Do that and the wages will increase accordingly. Paying a maid $13.00 instead of $10.00 and a cook $15.00 instead of $13.00 (what Trump is paying at Mar-a-Lago) and it might just do the trick! I even read about a staffing agency in the same county as Trump's Mar-a-Lago that said they would have no problem filling the jobs with qualified American workers that Trump uses H-2B visa workers for.
In today's labor market, the unemployment rate drastically understates the weakness of job opportunities. This is due to the existence of a large pool of missing workers. This is a pool of potential workers of who, because of weak job opportunities, are neither employed or actively seeking a job. In other words, these are people who would be either working or looking for work if job opportunities were significantly stronger. Because jobless workers are only counted as unemployed if they are actively seeking work, these "missing workers" are not reflected in the unemployment rate. Trust me, we still have plenty of folks on the welfare rolls that are capable of working and will go back to work for a decent wage.
Great!! I agree, write your Congresscritter and tell them to repeal the H2A and H2B programs.
SLAP A 15% PRIVILGE TAX WITH 15% EMPLOYER MATCHING ON ALL FOREIGN WORKERS.
Put every dime into our Social Security and Medicare Funds. They get NONE of it.
Make if costly to hire foreign workers!
They rip us off, take our jobs, take our housing and the Employer RIPS us off too!
Judy, I remember you not being a fan of W Bush and Obama. You have to ask yourself, if Obama or W Bush were doing the same things as Trump is doing on immigration, would you be happy with them? If Obama wanted to increase H2B visas, temporary visas, H1B visas, whatever visas, would you be happy with that decision? Would you sit here and make excuses for him? Because Trump is doing exactly what Obama did on immigration. It is not about being a supporter or a cheerleader, it is about holding these peoples feet to the fire. If we can't be honest and hold this man's feet to the fire, then what is to stop him from doing something worse? I get that it's hard to admit that we made a mistake and voted for a man who is not what he made himself out to be, but this man has already wasted 16 months and has yielded little positive results on immigration. How much more time do we give him before we admit, he is what he is and it's not going to get better? I voted for him, I don't think IMO anyone wanted Trump to succeed more than I did, especially after suffering through the last 4 painful administrations. I have to be honest, I am not happy with our ROI.
As far as who will run in 2020 that I can support, I honestly have no idea, but I know who it won't be. Most likely it will be a third party choice that I support because Trump will be the Republican, can't and never will support a Democrat so there is that.
Dman1200, I don't know what people are thinking other than what they post and everyone is in a tizz over an erroneous false headline that says Trump said "more" when he didn't say that, not once in his speech. If you feel that you should dump the first President since Richard Nixon who gives even 1 crap about the American Worker, that's your choice, that's everyone choice. But Breitbart lied in its headline claiming Trump wants "more", when that isn't what he said and that most certainly is not what he wants. He issued the lowest number of farmer worker visas which are the H2A visas last year in decades. He refused to increase the H2B visas for months even though Congress had given authority to increase them I believe by 65,000, until finally in July of 2017, he had Nielsen agree to increase them by 15,000, that's 7,500 for each 6 month period, a one time event, because Tillis was blocking one of his nominees, I forget which one, and even then, the rules Trump enforced were so strict and it was so late in the first 6 month session which starts in March, they didn't even issue the full 15,000.
In his speech he was confusing the farmer's visas with the H2B visas. The farmer's visas are the H2A.
I have no problem with objecting to any increase in these programs, I oppose them all and as you know wish they would all be eliminated, because I want a 10 to 20 Year Moratorium on ALL Immigration including temporary guest worker programs.
But I also object to false reporting which is what Breitbart did with their headline saying "more" when Trump didn't say that.
So if everyone wants to get hysterical over a false headline, that's fine. I'm going to post the article about Thom Tillis and this whole H2B thing that happened last year.
Trump says Democrats are blocking his nominees, but the GOP’s Tillis is holding up this one

President Donald Trump has accused U.S. Senate Democrats numerous times of delaying his nominees to fill the executive branch. But in the case of one Department of Homeland Security nominee, it is Republican Sen. Thom Tillis who is holding up the process.
Tillis, who represents North Carolina, placed a hold on Lee Francis Cissna’s nomination to be director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services – a department within Homeland Security whose 19,000 employees and contractors deals with naturalization, green cards, visas for temporary workers and the e-verify program that checks job applicants for legal residency in the country.
Senate custom allows a single senator to block legislation or presidential nominations through the use of a hold. The Washington Times first reported Tillis’ hold.
Tillis took the action to pressure Homeland Security to speed up a decision on making available more H-2B visas – a program that allows American businesses to hire seasonal foreign workers for non-agricultural jobs.
The program is used heavily by North Carolina’s tourism, landscaping and seafood production industries. Only Texas and Colorado had more workers on H-2B visas in fiscal year 2017 than North Carolina’s 4,324.
In May, Congress authorized Homeland Security to approve an additional 70,000 H-2B visas as part of a government funding law. Those additional visas are on top of the current cap of 66,000. But there are tighter restrictions this year as returning workers count against the cap unlike in previous years, and Tillis said the cap was reached on March 13.
Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly has yet to make a final decision on the additional visas, drawing the ire of Tillis. Several North Carolina businesses have been affected by the shortage of workers.
“Several senators, including Sen. Tillis, have concerns with DHS’ timeline because it would negatively impact North Carolina seasonal small businesses and workers this summer. The hold is in place while these concerns are being addressed with DHS,” Tillis spokesman Daniel Keylin said.
A DHS spokesman said the blame lies with Congress for passing the law in May, rather than September or October, which would allow more time to find seasonal summer workers. Congress also required that Kelly consult with the Department of Labor before making his decision.
“Francis Cissna is well-respected and highly qualified and Secretary Kelly looks forward to a confirmation vote by the Senate as soon as possible. Mr. Cissna received overwhelming support from the Senate Judiciary Committee,” said David Lapan, a press secretary for Homeland Security.
The issue is further complicated by the politics surrounding the use of foreign workers by American businesses, particularly after Trump made it an issue in the presidential campaign.
Though Trump said he has relied on the program to find workers for his golf courses and hotels, he campaigned on an “America First” platform. Some on the right and left have seized on the issue as one of fairness for American workers.
Four senators, including two Republicans and two Democrats, wrote a letter to Kelly and Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta in May urging caution in adding H-2B visas and requesting that Kelly inform the Senate Judiciary Committee in a written report how he reaches any determination to add more. The letter was signed by three members of the Judiciary Committee, including chairman Chuck Grassley, an Iowa Republican.
Tillis also serves on that committee.
Tillis teamed up with 87 members of both parties in the House and Senate to write a May letter to Kelly and Acosta encouraging them “to take swift and decisive action to ensure that small and seasonal businesses in our states can get the workers necessary to ensure a successful season.”
Though Democrats can stall nominees with procedural delays, Republicans hold 52 seats in the Senate, allowing them to confirm Trump’s nominees without any support from Democrats.
The Senate has confirmed 47 of Trump’s 139 formal nominees, according to The Washington Post and the Partnership for Public Service. But there are more than 370 key positions that require Senate confirmation for which Trump has not nominated anyone.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office said it does not disclose the number of nominees subject to holds.

The US Congress approved an increase of 70,000 more H2B visas last year. Under pressure on his nominee for USCIS, the person in charge of enforcing our laws on these visas and green cards, etc., Trump approved an increase of 15,000 of the 70,000 he could have approved.Quote:

Donald Trump didn't betray you, Thom Tillis betrayed you. But I didn't see that in the Breitbart articles on this subject. Not once, just Trump, Trump, Trump, why? Because Trump gets clicks, it's all about the clicks, because it's all about the money for the click traffic for Breitbart's advertisers and revenues. No one clicks on a negative story about Thom Tillis. Everyone clicks on a negative story about Trump even when it's not true.
The room was dead silent when Trump started pushing to import more foreign workers, and then the crowd cheered when he said they have to leave!
