Previously deported immigrant facing firearm violations

An undocumented immigrant accused of holding two people hostage in Phoenix on Tuesday was deported in 2010 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to police records.

Records show Julio Miguel Lapolleu-Vicente, 26, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of four felony firearm violations, including possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, discharging a firearm within city limits, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping.

Vicente, who police say was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, was arrested at about 7:30 p.m. at his home in the 2400 block of W. Devonshire Avenue.

According to police documents, Vicente approached two people earlier that day and held them at gunpoint at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of W. Glenrosa Avenue. After demanding they take him to buy drugs and coming up empty, Vicente fired three shots from a small caliber semi-automatic handgun before fleeing to his home about 200 yards away, according to police.

The alleged victims alerted police and positively identified Vicente, who was found with a small-caliber handgun magazine in his pocket at the time of his arrest, police said.

Authorities say Vicente, who was previously convicted of forgery in 2010, is also known by several aliases: Miguel Dominguez-Perez, Miguel Federico, Julio Miguel Vicente and Julio Miguel Lapolleu.
