    Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas has filed felony charges against immigration protestors involved in a minor skirmish with Phoenix Police at a march Jan. 16.

    Thomas filed aggraveted assault charges — a state felony — against the three protestors who poked at a Phoenix Police officer on a horse and threw a water bottle during the incident. The office pepper sprayed a small crowd during the incident, which occurred during protests against Sheriff Joe Arpaio's immigration raids and crime sweeps. Those sweeps were targeted against businesses suspected of hiring illegal immigrants.

    Jeremiah Matthew Henry, 18, Sarah Grace Daniels, 23, and Issa A. Emadi, 26, were charged. Henry and Daniels are charged with poking sticks at the mounted officer. Emadi faces felony charges for tossing a water bottle at police.

    The protesters insist Arpaio is unfairly targetting Hispanics in his immigration raids and crime sweeps. Arpaio denies wrongdoing.

    The water bottle may have been frozen

    Mike Sunnucks is one very biased reporter. Look at the language he is using to try and play down this violent assault on police officers.

    Dixie-From the youtube video I watched of this event the pepper sprayer was a policewoman.

    They were poking/agitating the horse too. I hope the judge throws the book at them.

    Hmm...doesn't sound to minor to me! Too bad that Mike Sunnucks believes that lawless, open border zealots attacking police officers to be a minor skirmish.

    The horse is also a Police officer.

    They were poking the horse in the flank, causing it to start bucking(not bad) from the agitation.
