‘Juveniles’ Attack Another Bosnian In St. Louis

    JIM TREACHER

Last week in St. Louis, 32-year-old Bosnian immigrant Zemir Begic was murdered in the street by “juveniles” with hammers. St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said it had nothing to do with Begic’s Bosnian heritage, let alone the color of his skin.

And nobody cared, because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

Now another Bosnian in the same neighborhood has been attacked by “juveniles,” and Dotson is changing his tune. Doug Moore at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch brings us another local news story that has nothing to do with anything on a national level:

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson has called in the FBI to help investigate what he is calling a hate crime because a woman assaulted by three [CENSORED] teens is Bosnian.
The Friday morning attack occurred in the Bevo Mill neighborhood where earlier this week a Bosnian man was killed with a hammer by a group of teens.
In Friday’s case, the woman, 26, told police that she was driving in the 4600 block of Lansdowne Avenue about 5:25 a.m. when three men in their late teens to early 20s walked in front of her vehicle.
When the woman attempted to drive around the young men, at least one of them pulled a gun and ordered her to stop. One of the men struck the windshield with an object police said could have been a crowbar. The woman was pulled from the vehicle…
One of the men asked where the woman was from. She said she was European.
“You’re a (expletive) liar. You’re Bosnian. I should just kill you now,” Dotson said of the woman’s account…
The woman was pushed to the ground and kicked before the attackers fled. A passer-by told police the woman was found unconscious.

Please note that I’ve removed any identifying information about the teens, because helping the police track down criminal suspects is racist.

Do #BosnianLivesMatter? I don’t see why they should. They’re not a Designated Victim Class in the United States, and they look white, so whatever happens to them is just too bad. If they don’t want to be dragged from their cars, beaten, and discarded in the street like garbage, they shouldn’t have come to America to escape genocide.
There will be no die-ins for Zemir Begic. You won’t see any professional athletes wearing “You’re Bosnian, I Should Just Kill You Now” T-shirts. If you don’t fit the profile, if you can’t be used for propaganda purposes, your pain and the pain of your loved ones is meaningless.

    Welcome to Utopia.

Attack on Bosnian woman near Bevo Mill is called a hate crime

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson has called in the FBI to help investigate what he is calling a hate crime because a woman assaulted by three black teens is Bosnian.

The woman was pulled from the vehicle while another of the men opened the passenger door and went through the woman’s purse, saying it was empty. One of the men threw her cellphone to the ground and stomped on it.

One of the men asked where the woman was from. She said she was European.

“You’re a (expletive) liar. You’re Bosnian. I should just kill you now,” Dotson said of the woman’s account.

Based on that comment, he said, police are labeling the assault as a hate crime.

The woman was pushed to the ground and kicked before the attackers fled. A passer-by told police the woman was found unconscious. She declined to be taken to a hospital for treatment, saying she would go later.

Dotson said designating the attack as a hate crime could lead to additional charges and prison time. Suspect descriptions are scant and he is urging the community to help identify the men.

The incident occurred five days after Zemir Begic, a 32-year-old Bosnian man, was killed in the 4200 block of Itaska Street. About 1:15 a.m. Sunday, he was walking to his car with his fiancée and two others when four teens confronted the group. At least one of them struck Begic with a hammer. He suffered injuries to his face, head and abdomen. Police said they have no evidence to believe Begic was targeted because of his race, although some in the community have doubts.

Robert Joseph Mitchell, 17, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Two other suspects, 15 and 16, are in custody. Another suspect remained at large Friday. At least two of the teens are black, and one is Hispanic.

On Friday, 19 organizations, many that work directly with Bosnians and other refugees, released a statement, urging police to strengthen their presence in all parts of the city including the Bevo Mill neighborhood. Dotson said he is increasing foot patrols and the presence of unmarked vehicles in Bevo Mill.

“Bosnians know the consequences of division and violence as well as anyone in our community,” the statement reads. “Let us build upon that experience as we repair our broken hearts and divided city.”

St. Louis police allege hate crime in latest attack on Bosnian resident

    Published December 09, 2014 FoxNews.com

Dec. 1: Bosnians march along Gravois Road to protest the murder of Zemir Begic, a Bosnian man, in St. Louis. (AP)

The St. Louis police chief has asked for the FBI's help investigating what he believes was a hate crime attack against a woman in the same Bosnian neighborhood where a man was beaten to death days earlier by hammer-wielding teens, and where assaults have spiked dramatically in recent months.

The 26-year-old Bosnian-American woman told police she was stopped in her car by three African-American teens early Friday morning in the city's Bevo Mill section, where tens of thousands of Bosnians settled following the civil war in the former Yugoslavia 20 years ago. The incident occurred just blocks from where Zemir Begic, a 32-year-old Bosnian-American, was beaten to death by teenagers with hammers a week earlier.

One of the assailants flashed a gun and ordered the woman out of her vehicle and another hit the woman's windshield with what police believe was a crowbar, authorities said.

"You're Bosnian," one of the suspects allegedly said. "I should just kill you now."

The woman, who was pulled from the car and then beaten, was found unconscious by a passerby, police said. The alleged statement prompted St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson to present the case to the FBI.

"We have been stopped at intersections in Bevo and our car attacked by teens who pound on the car -- laughing at us."
    - Resident of St. Louis' Bosnian enclave

"As of now, officers are investigating this incident as a bias crime based on the victim's account of the incident," the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said in an email Monday. "The investigation is ongoing."

Authorities said they don't believe the attacks on Begic and the woman are related, but acknowledged a disturbing rise in violent crime in the area in recent months. Although police have not made a connection, the crime spike coincides with the rioting that followed the August police shooting of a black teenager by a white police officer in nearby Ferguson, Mo.

Bevo Mill residents, whose neighborhood has seen a cumulative 24-percent rise in aggravated assaults over the last three months, say assaults and threats by packs of teenagers against Bosnians have become the norm. One who spoke to FoxNews.com on condition of anonymity due to safety reasons claims he and his family experienced a similar attack and said there is a disturbing pattern of violence against white residents in the area.

"It is common for African-American teens to walk in the middle of the street and block in cars at intersections," said the man, who has lived in the neighborhood for half a decade. "We have been stopped at intersections in Bevo and our car attacked by teens who pound on the car -- laughing at us."

"They only do this to white individuals, who they have learned will generally not respond. There is a pattern here and it is racially motivated," he alleged. "Many of us are arming ourselves in order to avoid becoming the next victim to be beaten to death in the streets."

"Overall the whole neighborhood is on alert," Alderman Carol Howard told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "There’s been an uptick in crime since August.

I really do believe it has set off a sense of lawlessness."

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, at the urging of Dotson, is working on a plan to put 160 additional officers on the street in response to the recent increase in crime, Slay's office said Monday.

Aggravated assault, for example, was up 19.6 percent in the Bevo Mill neighborhood in September when compared to September 2013, according to crime statistics posted on the St. Louis Police Department website. In October 2014, aggravated assault was up by 24.1 percent and by 29 percent in November when compared to the same month in 2013.
