CHARLOTTE, March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Monica Lozano, publisher of the nation's largest Spanish-language newspaper, has been nominated to Bank of America's board of directors. "Monica Lozano is a successful entrepreneur and leading advocate for the Hispanic business community," said Bank of America Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ken Lewis. "This, coupled with her outstanding record of community leadership in both California and across the nation, uniquely qualifies her as an ideal director for a company that is making such a large impact in the financial lives of all Americans".

Bank of America, the nation's largest consumer bank, has relationships with 48 percent of Hispanic households in its coast-to-coast territory, more than any other bank in the United States. Last year more than 21 percent of all new hires by the bank were Hispanic. Also in 2005, Bank of America became the first financial institution to make electronic money transfers to Mexico free for its customers through a SafeSend® feature with a checking account. For its efforts in the Hispanic community, Latina Style Magazine named Bank of America its 2005 Company of the Year.

Lozano, 49, is the publisher and CEO of Los Angeles-based La Opinion, the nation's largest Spanish-language daily newspaper. She is also senior vice president of Impremedia LLC, the first national Spanish-language newspaper company in the United States. Among her many community leadership positions, Ms. Lozano is currently chairwoman of The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States.
This year, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights will award Lozano the prominent Hubert H. Humphrey Civil Rights Award, saluting individuals or organizations that best exemplify Vice President Humphrey's legacy of "selfless and devoted service in the cause of equality." In winning this year's award, Lozano was commended for having "a profound effect on the way the nation's fastest growing population thinks about issues related to civil and human rights."

    Monica Lozano

Glen Beck on his 9:00 CNN program just reported that there is a new chairperson at BOA who is closely associated with La Raza. La Raza is an extreme minority among the Hispanic population in the US who unabashedly hate the United States and often support other groups and leaders who also hate America.

Monica Lozano, publisher of the nation's largest Spanish-language newspaper, has been nominated to Bank of America's board of directors.

Ms. Lozano is currently chairwoman of The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States.

NCLR has strongly opposed most of the U.S. government's post-9/11 counterterrorism efforts, alleging that they have "undermined" the rights of "noncitizen Latinos."

NCLR's major policy positions also include the following:

It supports access to driver's licenses for illegal immigrants.

It opposes the REAL ID Act, which requires that all driver's license and photo ID applicants be able to verify they are legal residents of the United States.

It opposes the Clear Law Enforcement for Criminal Alien Removal Act (CLEAR), which would empower state and local law-enforcement authorities to enforce federal immigration laws.

It lobbies for racial and ethnic preferences (affirmative action) and set-asides in hiring, promotions, and college admissions.

It supports bilingual education and bilingual ballots.

It supports voting rights for illegal aliens.

    It supports stricter hate-crime laws.

It opposes the Aviation Transportation and Security Act requiring that all airport baggage screeners be U.S. citizens.

It opposed President Bush's signing of the "Secure Fence Act of 2006" which authorized 700 miles of new border fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border.

    Welcome HiwayTrader,

Yes, Bank of America is giving millions of dollars to La Raza (The Race), MALDEF, and LULAC. Each group is focused on race. Each group excuses illegal aliens because of their race and each group supports open borders and amnesty.

Hello Hiway. I'm not sure that the LaRaza racist views are an extreme minority. The majority of illegals are from Mexico and half of Mexicans believe they are a unique "race" which imo is who La Raza represents. That wouild still be a large number.
