GOP voters' worries over immigration shape race in Iowa

STORM LAKE, Iowa – During the 1960s and 1970s, Richard Krout slaughtered hogs at a now-defunct meat-processing plant where the union label helped him earn more than most teachers. The work was strenuous, but the pay and benefits made it a job many Iowans wanted for themselves and their grown children.
Today, he said, the work is being done more cheaply, mostly by foreign-born workers with low job expectations.

I do believe that if we can stop the illegals from voting that this will be an immigration campaign. The media wants us to believe that it is over the war. It is not over the war. Maybe part of it but that is it.

There are so many illegals in the US that not one state can't be affected. I know that for me I will only vote for someone who will deport these illegals and send them home to there own country to fight the battle that they should have waged against there government years ago. Now we are having to wage a battle because of Bush.

They say that you should not vote on one issue, but I am voting on one issue and I do believe that the rest of the country will follow suit. If someone has the integrity to clean up this mess that Bush has gotten us into, then I would say he has the integrity in all areas to take care of our country.

This is my one issue as well.....and this issue crosses over to all the issues even the war........when it's also a matter of national security and everything else in the mix. They've muddied the water but this is a thread through so many of them. I don't care what the topic is. It effects homeland security, job outsourcing and insourcing through legal and illegal immigration, NAU, citizanship and what it means, language, health policies, voter fraud.....heck the list is endless.

This is my one issue also that I will vote on, Seems to me our government worries plenty for the Iraq people, but who is looking out for us, this issue is what is going to make or break our country, we lose this and it is all lost for our us, our children and grandchildren, everything else like NAU , insourcing and outsourcing etc. we can fight after we win this.

What I can not believe is everyone keeps blaming all of this on the Republicans, and the Repulicans have been part of the problem, but they are getting the big picture, Where as the Demacrates don't give a damn what the American people want.

They seem to keep getting away with the same rhetoric on the campaign trail, " we need to get rid of the criminals and then we can discuss the 12 million" HELLLOOO amnesty immediately is what that statement means, and nobody challenges them on this, and until people do we are in trouble!!

If a Dem gets in office all is lost!! period! and people are not seeing this!!

I don’t think at this point its going to mater even a small amount who takes over.
If them Dems get its a uphill battle. If the Rep. Get it it’s a mountain of crap to clear away…
And non of the independents are strong enough to take it so…
What does that leave us American voters with…

I know its still a few weeks early but I would have thought more political action groups would have posted a few of its choices by now…
All I see is what the candies are saying no chokes by other groups

I know one thing about Idaho, Craig is gone in 2008 and we are still a Republican state, and Both of the men thinking of running to replace him are real hard line against illegal immigration.

These are the kind of people we need to put in office and then we can still fight this even with a Dem. President.

But there are 12 Republicans retireing and so we need to replace them with hard line Republicans and how about we replace a whole lot of congress with Independants....there is still hope!!
