DENVER (AP) _ The nation's top education official says he's ``heartbroken'' Colorado has rejected a proposal to allow resident students in-state tuition regardless of immigration status.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan told a group of mostly Latino high school students Tuesday that he was saddened by the Colorado Senate's rejection of the proposal. The bill would have allowed Colorado high school graduates to receive in-state tuition even if they are in the country illegally.

Answering a student question on the tuition question, Duncan said some undocumented pupils came to this country as infants and that it makes no sense not to extend in-state status to those students.

The Senate defeated the bill 18-16 Monday.

To me, it makes no sense to reward their illegal alien parents with financial help. They want to go to college? Then they can PAY for it themselves at out-of-state rates or better yet - international student rates!

Millions of American families cannot afford to send their kids to college, does he care about them?

Arne Duncan needs to move to Mexico so he can educate the Dreamers there.

I am seriously believing that Obama is also part of the push for the New World Order.

Colorado you must vote the amnesty lovers out of office.

We are a nation of laws.

School systems are permitted to harbor, aid, and abet illegals. They are permitted to allow our American children to be exposed to diseases from around the world.

If you love illegals so much the YOU pay for their in-state tuition! Don't expect American tax payers to subsidize this crap when many of these people cannot even afford to send their kids to college. You want to reward those who entered this country in violation of Federal law with in-state tuition when they are not even citizens of this country!

Meanwhile, a kid who is an American citizen and resides in Arizona, would be REQUIRED to pay out of state tuition if he wanted to go to school in CO.
