Pinal County public health officials are investigating people who came in contact with a child who was found to have an active case of tuberculosis in the city of Maricopa.

The child, who was from Ethopia where tuberculosis is common, spent time living in Maricopa before moving to Washington state three months ago, according to health officials.

Some children came in contact with the child in a preschool and are being tested for the infection.

Why wasn't this child screened by the local school system? This school system would have sent an American child home with lice, measles, chickpox, or etc. Why did they permit this? They need a class action lawsuit brought against them.

All school systems if they are going to permit undocumented people into their schools I believe a clean bill of health is in order, then.

    Tb

It is unfortunate that Tb was brought to the area supposedly by the child from Ethiopia. Are we sure this child was infected before coming here? It is a very big problem in Mexico and our border towns. I know that Maricopa is a farming area and most farmers have the illegal cheap labor from Mexico.
