Rep. Gaetz Sounds the Alarm After Footage Surfaces of Women & Children Given Cash to Join Honduran Caravan to Storm U.S. Border (VIDEO)

On Wednesday, the caravan of mostly Honduran migrants exploded to a whopping 4,000 people as it approached the Mexico-Guatemala border, despite President Trump’s warnings to cut off U.S. aid.

The caravan had approximately 1,300 people on Monday and managed to balloon in just two days, tripling the number of people heading northbound towards the U.S. border just in time for the midterm elections.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that the Hondurans were spotted in Chiquimula, Guatemala marching through rain, determined to make it the Mexican border.

Because the migrant caravan has grown to over 4,000 people, the Mexican government has sent an additional 500 police to its border with Guatemala, reported NBC News.

Just how did the migrant caravan get so big in just a matter of two days? Footage surfaced Wednesday of Honduran women with children being given cash to join the caravan.

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) sounded the alarm Wednesday and called for an investigation into the source when he tweeted out a video of women holding babies and young children being given cash to join the caravan.

President Trump issued a stern warning to Honduran President Hernandez Tuesday threatening to cut U.S. aid immediately if the caravan was not stopped.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will also be traveling to Mexico on Friday to discuss plans to stop the caravan.

Mexico’s incoming government has rejected a Trump administration proposal of funding to speed up and increase its detention and deportation of US-bound Central American migrants.

Thousands of migrants are detained by Mexico as they travel through the country to try to reach the US, but the interior minister-designate said on Thursday no offer had been made to help fund the process.

“That has not been put on the table in any way,” said Olga Sánchez Cordero, who is likely to take up responsibility for security in the administration of president-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The outgoing government of Enrique Peña Nieto, however, issued a statement on Thursday night saying it “was continuing to evaluate the proposal” from the Trump administration.

“The government of Mexico will continue with the cooperation on migration matters has had with the the USA government,” the statement said.

Donald Trump has repeatedly pledged to build a border wall to stop immigration and stick Mexico with the bill. But the New York Times reported the Trump administration has instead proposed paying Mexico to speed up and increase its already robust detention and deportation of Central Americans escaping poverty and violence in what are some of the most murderous countries in the world.

Under the proposal – outlined in a note to Congress – $20m in foreign assistance funds would be used for the removal of 17,000 migrants from Mexico via flights or bus trips back to Central America, according to the New York Times. The purpose of the program would be to reduce the flow of migrants arriving at the border.

Arrests of family units entering the US from Mexico illegally soared 38% in August over the previous month, US customs and border protection said on Thursday.

Mexico implemented a controversial migrant crackdown called the “southern border plan” in 2014 in response to an outflow of child migrants from Central America. It stepped up enforcement in southern states, set up immigration checkpoints and stopped allowing migrants to steal rides on freight trains.

The US president appears to have struck a cordial relation with López Obrador, a left-leaning populist, who overwhelmingly won the 1 July presidential election and takes office in December.

López Obrador promised on the campaign trail that Mexico “wouldn’t do the dirty work” of foreign governments, a reference to the deportations of Central Americans. He plans to slow migration through regional development in southern Mexico and Central America.

They may be moving ahead trying to negotiate something, but I don't think Mexico is taking the money. They should, don't know why they wouldn't, maybe they want to do more business with Central America than the United States. That can quickly be arranged.

Finally – the $21-million question about the migrant caravan ...
If 4,000+ people "spontaneously" decide to set out on a 1,500-mile walk from Honduras to the U.S. -- with children in tow -- conveniently timed to reach the border around Election Day, it's obvious there's a political motive.
That's the answer to the "why" question.
But a bigger question arises when considering the logistics of feeding 4,000 people ... providing them water ... and bathrooms.
That has Rush Limbaugh asking the all-important "who" question.
It's time to follow the money ...

MEXICO CITY (CNS) -- A Scalabrini migrant shelter in Guatemala City has served 1,700 Hondurans heading north as part of a caravan seeking to reach the U.S. border.

Carlos Lopez, a shelter official, told Catholic News Service the Scalabrini facility in Guatemala normally serves up to 80 guests at a time, but the number of migrants arriving from Honduras has forced the shelter to offer lodging in a nearby school.

Resources, he added, are strained and "staff are exhausted," having worked 48 hours nonstop. Rain is also making life miserable for migrants traveling mostly on foot and sometimes forced to sleep outside.

"We have a soccer field full of people, in the dining room, in every nook and cranny. They're on the bleachers, in the school gym," he said Oct. 18. "The problem now is feeding people and hygiene. ... We're experiencing chaos right now."

A caravan of Hondurans departed the city of San Pedro Sula Oct. 13, but its ranks swelled as it crossed into Guatemala. Lopez said no one was certain of the caravan's exact size, but he compared it to a "snowball going downhill" and estimated it at more than 5,000 participants.

"This is a humanitarian crisis. Here there are 75-year-old elderly women and 2-month-old babies," he said.

The caravan has captured the attention of Trump, who threatened to cut off assistance to Guatemala and Honduras -- $1.1 billion in 2017 and 2018, according to the Washington Office on Latin America -- if the caravan proceeded.

Guatemala issued a statement saying it would stop the caravan, even though Central American countries allow each other's citizens to cross borders freely.

Mexico sent two planeloads of federal police officers to its southern border Oct. 15 as the first migrants in the caravan arrived in the area. The country's foreign ministry said in a statement anyone with the proper papers could enter Mexico, while those planning to apply for asylum could do so. Anyone not meeting the entry requirements would be turned back, however.

In a tweet, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence warned Central American migrants to stay put, saying the road north poses risks and "if (migrants) cannot come to the U.S. legally, they should not come at all."

The northern triangle of Central America -- Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador -- is one of the most violent regions in the world, though murder rates have declined in recent years. Nicaragua has also experienced an outflow due to political unrest and attacks by police and paramilitaries on the opposition, though many of those migrants head to neighboring Costa Rica.

"Poverty, the lack of opportunities, violence and extortion due to gangs ... (people) can no longer live with such anxiety and, hence, are taking these actions," Lopez said.

In 2017, nearly 299,000 Central Americans were considered refugees or applied for asylum, according to the Jesuit Network with Migrants -- Central America and North America.

"The daily crisis of subsistence ... derived from the imposition of authoritarian political systems and economic models, which exclude, force people to flee their countries to have a dignified life and sometimes save their lives," the network said in a statement Oct. 17.

. . . Gaetz is wrong about several things in his description of the video he posted.


First, it was not shot in Honduras, which he later acknowledged. Google Maps and Facebook photos place the storefront seen in the video, an auto parts shop, in Chiquimula, Guatemala. As Kirk Semple of The New York Times reported, the migrant caravan was formed last week in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and has made its way north through Guatemala.
Second, Gaetz’s speculation the migrants were being offered cash to join the caravan by Soros is unfounded. Open Society Foundations, Soros’ philanthropic organization, has denied any involvement.
Luis Assardo, a Guatemalan journalist, said in an email he spoke to residents of Chiquimula and was told that some local merchants had given the migrants money while others had offered food, clothing or other help.
The video appears to show each migrant receiving a single bill, so the largest amount they could have received was 200 quetzales, equal to about $26. Migrants in the caravan told The New York Times that the Guatemalans generally handed out one or two quetzals, or about 13 to 26 cents — undercutting Trump’s claim of “a lot of money” exchanging hands.
The migrants said they were not paid to join the caravan.
In an interview, Gaetz said he now suspects that the men handing out money were cartel members sowing goodwill to subvert the government. He is also concerned that U.S. nonprofit organizations were involved in organizing the caravan, but concedes that “they may not be.” He emphasized that he was merely asking questions — and is “still asking.”
The notion that refugees will leave their homes solely for a little cash is “crazy,” said Alex Mensing, a project coordinator with Pueblo Sin Fronteras, a transnational group that organized the migrant caravan that captured Trump’s attention in spring. (The group did not coordinate the caravan that is now traveling north, but has been organizing similar journeys for years.)
“You don’t have to pay people to try save their own lives,” Mensing said. “They are fleeing violence, death threats or economic violence.”

Where would the migrants sleep? How would they eat? Where would their water come from?
He also discussed issues like personal hygiene; where would they shower or bathe? Where would they go to the bathroom?
And if you look at pictures of the migrants you’ll see, many are carrying very small backpacks, so they can’t have much food with them, let alone toiletry items, tents/shelter, and extra clothing – all of the things you’d normally associate with someone trekking cross-country and hundreds of miles. Some don’t have a backpack at all.
That led Limbaugh to logically conclude someone – or some organization(s) – must be helping the migrants, to include the governments of Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico, all countries they have passed through or will be passing through.
Almost on cue, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., dropped a bombshell Wednesday, the same day Limbaugh was speculating about who was providing the migrant caravan’s basic needs. He tweeted out a video that showed men handing out what appears to be money to women and children in the caravan:

NGOs – non-governmental organizations – are almost all led by Left-wing individuals and groups. And George Soros is long known for his Marxist-socialist meddling in the U.S. electoral or governing processes. If, in fact, he – directly or indirectly – is funneling money to this caravan, then he most definitely needs to be (finally) held to account, perhaps by freezing his U.S. assets and using them to pay the costs incurred by the United States for dealing with all of these people once they arrive on our doorstep (and they will).

This wasn’t just spontaneous

There has been some pushback on the original story – Gaetz himself corrected the record and said the people in the video are actually in Guatemala (he said he believed it was Honduras because he was sent the video by a Honduran government official). Some say that what we see in the video is not unusual, as it’s merely part of an annual “caravan” event meant to draw attention to the violence in their home countries.
But there is clearly more behind this latest caravan than just ‘tradition.’ For one thing, it was put together at a time – right before the midterm elections in the U.S. – when the American Democratic Left is desperate to make POTUS Trump and Republicans look bad. The establishment media no doubt has already taped interviews with many migrants including weeping mothers clinging to crying, dejected-looking children, all of whom are complaining that the evil Donald Trump and Republicans won’t let them into the land of opportunity (because they’re all racists).
In fact, they’re already starting to publish them.
But how likely is this stunt to change the outcome of the midterm elections? It may (or may not) inspire Leftists to show up and vote for Democrats, but it’s certainly going to energize more Republican, Trump-supporting voters, and there is already statistical data to back up that claim.
As The National Sentinel reports, immigration or, more specifically illegal immigration, is the No. 1 issue among GOP voters, with 25 percent saying so. That’s followed by “’Economy and Jobs’ (23 percent), then healthcare (17 percent), ‘gun policy’ (17 percent), and ‘tax cuts and reform’ (7 percent).”
In the meantime, it’s incumbent upon Congress and the administration to find out who’s funding this migrant invasion of our country.

Yes, they are sick and disgusting people. What these people are doing are destroying any nice image anyone had of Hondurans. Hondurans are home are nice, sweet, hard-working, pleasant people. I've had family who took a trip there and they loved Honduras. These sick and disgusting people are the degenerates of Honduras, the radical socialist criminal whining mooching ... over-breeders.
