OAKLAND -- A Mexican citizen accused of selling methamphetamine and cocaine out of a Union City home has pleaded guilty to drug and weapon charges in federal court, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Ruben Reynoso, 40, was indicted by a grand jury on April 18 and charged with four counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine and cocaine and for being an illegal immigrant in possession of ammunition, U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag said.

Reynoso pleaded guilty to the charges in a federal courtroom in Oakland on Wednesday, according to Haag, and admitted that in October and in January he sold 17 grams of meth out of his home on the 600 block of E Street. He also admitted that on the date of his arrest, April 4, he possessed with the intent to distribute additional meth and cocaine, according to Haag.

At the time of his arrest, he had a .380-caliber pistol and ammunition; the pistol was found under the bed in his bedroom and the ammunition was found in the closet of the same room, authorities said. Haag said Reynoso also admitted he was unlawfully in the United States.

Reynoso has been in custody since April 4. He is set to be sentenced on Oct. 16, before U.S. District Court Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton in Oakland and faces mandatory prison time and fines.
