Rep. Steve King Proposes A Fence, A Wall, And Another Fence On Border

(radio bits at the source link)

    Date posted - December 13, 2016

Northwest Iowa — 4th District U.S. Congressman Steve King says he’s had a one-on-one conversation with President-Elect Donald Trump about plans for a wall along the border with Mexico.

King says the conversation took place “behind the curtain” at Trump’s “Thank You” rally in Des Moines last week.

King also talked twice last week with House Speaker Paul Ryan.

King’s vision here is not for just a single wall. It’s for three barriers: a fence, a wall and a fence. That would create a sort of “no man’s land” in between the fences and that wall, as King describes it.

The southern border is approximately two-thousand miles long. King expects construction on a secure border barrier to start in the first half of 2017. And King says Trump’s decision to nominate a “border hawk” to lead the Department of Homeland Security is another significant signal the wall will be built. King says a concrete wall, with wire fencing on either side, is the cheapest way to secure the border. Some critics say completely walling off the southern border sends the wrong signal about our democracy. Others say high tech surveillance can be used along the border. King says a “virtual wall” will not be effective. Government records indicate fencing is already in place along 700 miles of the 2000 mile border.

Even though Congressman Steve King supported Ted Cruz in the primary, I hope that Donald Trump will bring him into his inner council on immigration matters. Very few members of Congress have fought harder against illegal immigration than Rep. Steve King.

Is someone who supported Ted Cruz in the primaries supposed to be automatically tainted because they supported him? I supported Ted Cruz too and feel no regret or remorse over it. There were a lot of anti-illegal immigrant hardliners like Steve King that supported Cruz during the primaries because Cruz is an anti-illegal immigrant hardliner too. I know because I was one of them. Honestly, I still feel Ted Cruz is a good man and represents his country well. I still remember his 21 hour filibuster against Obamacare. Just saying .......

Oh, and I agree that Rep. Steve King should have a part in Trump's administration.

We need to be able to patrol both sides of any of our border barriers. So, yes, a kind of no-man's-land should be created, one where the most difficult obstacle is well within US borders so that it can be patrolled on both sides with a more superficial barrier on the border itself, one that could easily be seen through to monitor activity on the other side without having to be on the other side. Anyone who violated our border by crossing over the more superficial fence could be arrested and detained long before they even attempted to cross the more serious obstacle. And maybe one more fence on the our side of the largest wall to keep our own citizens or illegals already inside from assisting anyone lucky enough to actually scale The Wall itself. Three different barriers on our borders, north and south, is what we need in some places, maybe not all.

Cruz claimed dual citizenship with Canada while sitting in the senate. He ran for president when he wasn't born in the US and was therefor ineligible, just as Obama was supposed to be ineligible as claimed (correctly) by the otherwise disoriented "birthers". He is unfit to be a citizen, much less a senator and never a president. Send him back to Canada.

That may be an opinion some on here share, but one that many in the country don't. I'm not gong to get into a discussion we've had a hundred times on here, but Cruz didn't "claim" duel citizenship, nor did he receive any benefit from it. He had it, but he never claimed it, besides that, he renounced it when he was made aware. According to our current laws he is a natural born citizen. That law has also been explained numerous times. Why would you want to send him back to Canada? He was born to an American mother who was temporarily in Canada due to her husbands employment. Just for arguments sake, why is he "unfit to be a citizen" and a senator? He is obviously a citizen and qualified by law to be a senator. The only question a few had on here is his natural born citizenship status, not his citizenship or eligibility as a senator.

The fence is going to take some doing and I fear some Americans are going to be hurt by it. There are people, here in Texas, whose homes are right on the river.

A wall will help, but only if it is part of other deterrents. I would like to see troops on the border, personally. We seem to be able to use our troops on borders all over the world, but not our own - the only border we should be guarding.

Also, eyes in the sky, and REAL interior enforcement.

And it will take Americans doing their part. We should, as best we can, keep from spending money with the companies that hire illegals.

I like the story Mr. Gheen told about his experience with getting a delivery made without illegals. We should all do those things.

Without interior enforcement, walls will be useless.

The number one step is to deport all illegal aliens. Until we get them all out, there is no stopping the inflow. It's this "base" of illegals that draws all the rest.

If we, the people, did our part by not buying products that illegals make, not eating at places illegal work, etc., it will make it easier for the government to do it's job.

If we can help take away their jobs, that will be one point they can't argue.

There are a lot of immigration lawyers here in Texas, and I know they are already creating their plan of attack and lining up potential customers. Dollars to donuts, we taxpayers will be paying those lawyers.

I do wish the government would tell them if they go home on their own, they can sell any property and keep the monies - take any household goods Mexico will allow.

If they choose to fight it, their properties, including monies will be confiscated. They will be investigated back to day one and every infraction will be charged - no DL, or fake DL (some states excepted), fake SS card (that should be a biggie), tax evasion, perhaps welfare fraud, etc., etc.

If we don't watch it, the immigration will go out and pick some illegal who is on life support, recovering from open heart surgery, etc., and deport them - calling in the media to make an event. They do that kind of thing.

We need to do our part. Since they are so entwined in our society and economy, we can't always avoid it, but make an effort.

We, the people need to do our part. We need to avoid any businesses that employ illegals or any products they produce - at least as much as we can. They are so entwined in our economy, it will take some doing.

If we could get some to return home because they have no jobs, that's a good thing.

If, when they choose to take it to court (and many will), we have removed their jobs - that will be one talking point they don't have.

I'm sure the immigration lawyers have been devising their plan of attack since PE Trump began his run. I'm betting we taxpayers will foot the bill for their lawyers - so every thing we can do, we should.

It would be good if the government told illegals if they return home on their own, they can sell any properties, keep any belongings (that Mexico will let them bring back) and no problem.

Then tell them if they don't return home voluntarily, they will be investigated and every infraction will be charged, from fake documents, tax evasion, maybe welfare fraud, etc.

We have got to stop pretending this isn't a crime - or that it is a victimless crime.

Also, I have never understood the idea that those who have been here for a long time, should get to stay. I know of no other crime that rewards someone for continuing to commit that crime for a longer period of time.

Again, how did we get to this point and can we find our way back?
