Trump Meets with Dem Leadership to Discuss Immigration

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) re-introduced the Birthright Citizenship Act, H.R. 140,this week that would end the practice of giving automatic citizenship to children born to two illegal-alien parents on U.S. soil.

The bill was introduced with 11 cosponsors.

Rep. King issued the following statement after introducing H.R. 140:

A Century ago, it didn’t matter very much that a simple practice began that has now grown into a massive issue of birthright citizenship or the anchor baby agenda,” said King.

“When automatic citizenship started being granted to all babies born in the United States, our lawmakers missed the clause in the 14thAmendment that says, ‘And subject to the jurisdiction thereof.’

So once the practice began, it grew out of proportion and today between 340,000 and 750,000 babies are born in America each year that get automatic citizenship even though both parents are illegal.

I know of no other country in the world that does this, and it must end.

My Birthright Citizenship Act of 2017 fixes it, clarifies the 14th Amendment and clarifies the Constitutional meaning of the clause, ‘And subject to the jurisdiction thereof.’

President-elect Trump repeatedly called for this bill, and it should be a top priority in Congress.

Under the proposed legislation, automatic citizenship would only be granted to children born in the U.S. who have at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident or an immigrant performing active service in the armed forces.

The bill is cosponsored by Reps. Brian Babin (R-Texas), Lou Barletta (R-Pa.), Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), Blake Farenthold (R-Texas), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Walter Jones (R-N.C.), Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), Lamar Smith (R-Texas), and Rob Woodall (R-Ga.).

Also this week, Rep. King reintroduced three other immigration bills:

Sarah's Law to increase penalties for repeat border crossers, the New IDEA Act to prohibit employers from deducting wages from their taxes if they hire illegal workers, and the Religious Worker Reciprocity Act to reform visas for foreign religious workers.

Yes, and he introduced that bill, HR 140 to end anchor baby citizenship on Jan 6, we've heard almost nothing about it. This is September, over 9 months later, and no discussion or action on it yet. Bring it to the top of the list, get Trump and the White House on it, plugging it, this was a key position of the Trump campaign and something this President wants to grind to a halt.

Absolutely!! This bill should have been passed months ago.

The Dominican Republic, with constitutionally guaranteed birthright citizenship, ruled that it didn't apply to those born "in transit." Haha. Makes perfect sense! If Trump can get some additional justices on the Supreme Court we might get a similar ruling. President-elect Trump repeatedly called for this bill, and it should be a top priority in Congress.

As we're quickly learning, Trump said a lot of things during his campaign that he may not be enthusiastic to support now. Unfortunately his priorities on immigration aren't necessarily ours. Honestly, I don't expect this bill to get anymore traction now than it has in the past and that's very unfortunate.

Now is the time for all of us to make sure it gets traction to pass. Solving this problem involves a lot more than stopping amnesty.

Representative King...please push this through now.

This is great but too bad it will never pass!

Here's the problem, illegal aliens and their open border activist don't have a real life and
spend all there time parading and protesting. This is what our politicians and people like us
see and here all day long on TV, internet and radio.

WE,THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, can overwhelm the illegal alien numbers in both parades and protesting
so our voices too can be heard......

However, we have real lives and responsibilities that don't allow us the time needed to be out there
protesting. By all appearances, by staying silent, both law makers and citizens assume we don't care
and accept any amnesty thrown in our face.

The thousands of people that showed up at Trump rallies chanting 'BUILD THAT WALL', are the same
people we need on the streets now chanting 'NO MORE AMNESTY, MUST DEPORT'
