ARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE) - The Union Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for a rape suspect, Christian Ramirez.

"Since 2013, we've had two incidents involving illegal immigrants," says Union Parish Sheriff, Dusty Gates.

Christian Ramirez and Mario Rameriz were two men illegally calling the Farmerville area their home. Within the span of a year between 2013 and 2014, both men were arrested for reported aggravated rape.

Mario Rameriz was arrested in 2013.

"Due to the seriousness of the charges, they went ahead and prosecuted him," says Gates.

Mario Rameriz is currently serving a 12-year sentence at Angola.

Christian Rameriz, on the other hand, seemed to slip between the cracks. While awaiting trial in 2014, Rameriz was turned over to Immigrant and Customs Enforcement near Alexandria.

"Normally for an individual to be deported he must have no criminal charges. This subject was turned over to them, but during the process, and a miscommunication between the prosecutor and the ICE [formerly INS] in Alexandria, he was subsequently released," explains Gates.

Now, the Union Parish Sheriff's Office is doing what they can to find him.

"We have entered him into the national crime database," says Gates. "His whereabouts are unknown. There's a possibility he did flee back to Mexico."

Gates says many legals and illegals end up in the parish to work in the poultry industry, but he has not had many issues with those who call Union Parish home.

The Immigrant and Customs Enforcement was contacted, but KNOE received no calls back.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Christian Ramirez should contact the Union Parish Sheriff's Office or local law enforcement immediately.
