Report: ICE Agents Averaging One Illegal Alien Arrest Every Two Months

Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency are averaging one illegal alien arrest every two months thanks to President Joe Biden’s gutting of interior immigration enforcement, newly published data reveals.

The data, published by the Washington Post, shows that the Biden administration has drastically cut arrests of illegal aliens as ICE agents worry they will be punished by top Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials for enforcing federal law.

“The agency’s 6,000 officers currently average one arrest every two months,” the Post report details:

ICE officials frustrated with the changes describe a workplace environment where officers spend time doing paperwork, idling or working out, more fearful of facing reprimand for making an arrest than not making one. [Emphasis added]

“It’s a weird, frustrating time,” said one ICE official, who is not authorized to speak to reporters, describing a climate of distrust. “It feels like the administration doesn’t have our backs.” [Emphasis added]

Compare that level to that of former President Trump’s administration when ICE agents were arresting, on average, nearly 9,000 illegal aliens every month — 90 percent of which had either criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.

The massive drop in arrests of illegal aliens is just one result of Biden’s “sanctuary country” orders that prevent ICE agents from arresting and deporting illegal aliens unless they have been recently convicted of an aggravated felony, or are terrorists or known gang members.

ICE agents, whenever attempting to arrest an illegal alien outside of that narrow scope, must ask for permission from top DHS officials.

This month, Arizona Attorney Mark Brnovich — who along with Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen is suing Biden for the sanctuary country orders — released testimony from former Acting Phoenix ICE Director Albert Carter who confirmed fewer illegal alien arrests inevitably means fewer deportations.

Carter, similarly, said the “only factor” for the drop in deportations — which have hit the lowest monthly levels on record — is Biden’s sanctuary country orders.

In Arizona, as Breitbart News reported, illegal aliens convicted of armed robbery, drunk driving, drug crimes, and arson are walking free out of prisons instead of being turned over to ICE agents for deportation.

Likewise, in Florida, illegal aliens convicted of burglary, cocaine trafficking, grand theft auto, heroin trafficking, credit card fraud, and money laundering are being released back into American communities from prison rather than being taken into ICE custody.

Illegal alien sex offenders, thanks to the Biden orders, have reportedly been released from U.S. Marshal’s custody. Without the sanctuary country orders, they would have been turned over to ICE agents for deportation.

Today, 11 to 22 million illegal aliens are living in the U.S. with more than a million of those illegal aliens having final deportation orders by a federal judge.

As Illegals Flood the Border, Biden Regime Reports Lowest Monthly Total of Deportations on Record by ICE Agents

After rule changes implemented by President-imposed Joe Biden have gone into effect, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers deported the fewest number of people since the agency’s inception last month

They only deported 3,000 illegal immigrants in the month of April, and the agency’s 6,000 employees are basically sitting around doing nothing. An ICE agent only averages one arrest every two months during a time when the border is being flooded by third-world migrants.

The Washington Post explains that the Biden regime has put ICE on “probation” for doing their jobs properly throughout the Trump years. They note that Biden “has placed ICE deportation officers on a leash so tight that some say their work is being functionally abolished.”

Biden’s immigration policies are being dictated by left-wing advocacy groups in the White House. They are pushing to reduce enforcement even further from the current historic low during a 20-year peak of illegals crossing the U.S. southern border. They continue to deny the border crisis even as activists demand action.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced last week that two ICE detention centers will be closed. The Biden regime is being pressured to ax the funding for ICE in the upcoming budget. Mayorkas is claiming that he wants to make ICE more efficient rather than attack the organization.

“I really am focused on it becoming a premier national security and law enforcement agency,” Mayorkas said. “I really want to elevate all of the other work [ICE] does and also ensure that its civil immigration work is well-focused in the service of the national security and public safety mission.”

However, Mayorkas’ history shows him to be an open borders cheerleader who has complete and utter contempt for the American worker.

Big League Politics has reported on how Mayorkas imported cheap labor to the U.S. to replace native workers and reward globalist Democrat donors while serving under Obama:

“Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton confirmed he would vote against Joe Biden’s pick for the Department of Homeland Security in the event Biden is inaugurated, citing Alejandro Mayorkas’s track record of delivering cheap labor visas to elite Democrat donors and business interests as the Director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services. Mayorkas served as USCIS Director in the Obama administration.

Cotton explained his rationale on opposing a tentative Mayorkas nomination in a tweet thread over the weekend. Cotton cited a report from DHS’s Inspector General who indicated Mayorkas consistently approved visa applications for workers that would be employed by politically-connected and influential Democrats for American jobs…

Mayorkas had provided free visa workers to companies owned by Democrats such as former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and Nevada arch-Democrat Senator Harry Reid. The 2014 DHS IG’s report on Mayorkas’s corporate welfarism indicated that the Democrat-affiliated bureaucrat had expressed annoyance at inquiries from USCIS employees on improving counter-fraud efforts, instead demanding that they focus on approving as many migrant visas as possible. The IG’s report had accused him of “an appearance of favoritism and special access” through his political use of visa programs.”

The Biden regime is letting dangerous criminals flood across the border to give the Democrat Party the permanent edge in the voting booth. This way, they won’t even have to steal elections to consolidate power in the future.
