REPORT: White House to propose billions for a fence, not a wall (video)

REPORT: White House to propose billions for a fence, not a wall (video)

    February 9, 2018

    Written by DML

During his campaign, Trump revved his crowds by having them chant, “Build the wall.” Then he would slap on the false campaign promise of the century by stating ‘Mexico would pay for the wall.’

Perhaps the president was just “playing chess” with his loyal supporters? Perhaps the reality TV star turned president should have created the chant, “Build the fence,” because that’s what a new proposal is reportedly declaring.

According to Breitbart, a senior official claims the White House was scheduled to request $3 billion in funding for President Donald Trump’s long-promised wall on the Southern border. However, the requested funding will be used for 18-foot bollard fences, not structures similar to the new 30-foot prototype walls recently built in San Diego.

The estimated $3 billion boost in funding for the wall was described as a “downpayment” by an official briefing a small group of reporters.

Modern presidential budgets are seen as a political document, detailing a wish-list of how they would like to see Congress spend money.

The request would help construct 124 miles of new bollard wall structures in the Rio Grande valley in Texas. The $3 billion would be primarily used to procure steel and purchase land in preparation for construction.

Land acquisition, especially from private landowners in Texas, would take considerable time, the official noted, but they were operating on an “accelerated” timeline.

The structures would differ depending on the terrain, but would largely follow the same model as existing structures on the southern border.

I’ve said for the longest time that a wall would never happen. I was told I was a liar, and totally crazy, and a liberal, and a ….. (fill in the blank). Maybe I was just the opposite. Maybe I was more understanding of how this stuff works than the average pundit. Either way, money for more fencing? See how well the fencing works in video below:

White House Budget Plans Request $3 Billion Downpayment for New Bollard Fencing

    February 9, 2018

The White House budget will be released on Monday, despite Congress currently negotiating a two year spending agreement.

However, the requested funding will be used for 18-foot bollard fences, not structures similar to the new 30-foot prototype walls recently built in San Diego.

“We did learn, we are learning from the prototypes, in terms of materials and everything else, but I would say that our estimates are based on the actual wall that we’ve built at this point,” the official said.

Yep, and Trump also promised to end DACA immediately after moving into the White House last January! Well, that promise was quickly revealed to be a lie. So, I suppose nothing should surprise us at this point.

I'm not going to suggest Hillary would have been a better choice for us, because she wouldn't, but I will say Trump is not exactly everything he proclaimed to be during his presidential campaign. Didn't trust him then because his message was very inconsistent, but after the primaries he was the only game in town. All we can do now is keep the pressure on and hope for the best.

I personally don't want the wall and I didn't vote for Trump because of the wall, regardless of who would pay for it. I think the wall is bad for the environment and bad for our border, but until we stop illegal immigration, I guess we need it, and it seems we do. It's a shame that all this vermin coming in illegally can't be stopped some other way. I prefer a Wall of Americans, but few seem to understand the economics and logistical benefits of it, and massive rapid deportations to destroy their base here which not only corrects the illegal presence but prevents future illegal immigration related to these illegal aliens already here.

    Another big disappointment!

That Budget coming Monday is for FY 2019. The FY 2018 Budget is already done, finished last spring, passed by the House in August, but being ignored by the Senate.

But you used to tell us you wanted "a big beautiful 30 foot wall with landscaping not some old rusty metal fence."

If they build a wall, I want a beautiful wall with landscaping, something pretty to look at. I was never a fan of the wall, I didn't even support the fences back in the day. I'd prefer not to build a wall, I used to tell you all the time that instead of a physical wall, I want a Wall of Americans, 40,000 border guards, 20 per mile on average, 6 to a shift, with 2 spares to fill in for holidays, sick leave and vacations. I would even take the time to calculate the wages, benefits, equipment and supplies. The total was $$2 billion a year in salaries at $40,000 a year per guard plus 25% benefits package (health insurance, vacation, sick leave, employer payroll tax.) Then add another $500 million a year for equipment, vehicles, supplies and expenses and $200 million a year for supervision and processing costs.

A great bargain with zero impact on the environment and a much more effective means to actually stop illegal immigration. Plus it's JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!!
