The discovery of approximately two kilograms of cocaine disguised as candy-lollipops, chocolates and toffee-has led to the arrest of a New Jersey man.

Miguel Andrade, 34, of Paterson, NJ, was taken into custody yesterday after he left a business located on Holly Avenue. Andrade is charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He is being held on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer.

The arrest came after Loudoun Sheriff's Office investigators learned this week that a large quantity of cocaine was transported here from South America. The suspect allegedly was using the Sterling-based import business to smuggle in the drugs. The business primarily caters to the South American immigrants, providing a variety of services, including import items from Peru.

Investigators reported the business likely was unaware its services were being used to bring narcotics into the community.

The drugs were contained in suitcases and disguised as 20 bags of candy containing 600 individually wrapped pieces of cocaine, with a street value of more than $100,000.

Andrade arrived Thursday at the business to pick up the candy items. After he left the business, members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit Jump-Out Team apprehended the suspect without incident.
