June 9, 2016 – ICE HSI, partners arrest 66 Massachusetts gang members on gun and drug charges
Sixty-six alleged gang members from the Boston metropolitan area were indicted in federal court on multiple charges related to conspiracy to commit murder and fueling a gun and drug pipeline across eastern Massachusetts. Full Story
June 6, 2016 – DHS and DOJ return valuable, ancient artifacts to India
The majority of the pieces repatriated in the ceremony were seized during Operation Hidden Idol, an investigation that began in 2007 after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents received a tip about a shipment of seven crates destined for the United States manifested as “marble garden table sets.” Examination of the shipment in question revealed numerous antiquities. Carlos Fernando Orellana-Pizarro, 45, who has a robbery conviction in Germany, was repatriated on board commercial flights under escort by Cleveland-based ERO officers. After arriving at Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport, ERO officers transferred Orellana-Pizarro to the custody of Chilean law enforcement.

Aniel Martinez Reyes, 29, was taken into ICE custody April 29, after being released from the Bergen County Jail. On June 26, 2015, Martinez Reyes was convicted of robbery and sentenced in the Superior Court of New Jersey to three years’ imprisonment.

At Monday’s proceeding, Paulino Ramirez-Granados admitted to bringing a woman from Mexico to New York between October 2000 and December 2008, and forcing her, using threats and violence, to work as a prostitute in Queens, New York, and elsewhere.

Laotian man arrested at Los Angeles-area monastery on state child pornography charges
Kounzong Saebphang, 26, of Laos, is charged with two felony criminal counts. He was arrested June 1 at the Wat Lao Buddhist Monastery in Riverside where he resided as a monk. The arrest came following the execution of a federal search warrant at that location.

The HSI office in The Hague provided 2,084 financial leads developed over a five month period monitoring money transfers, helping their European partners connect two parallel investigations into the Athens-based operation providing falsified documents to TCNs in EU Member States and other countries in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

HSI special agents arrested Haena Park, 40, of New York, Thursday on commodities fraud and wire fraud charges, stemming from her alleged scheme to defraud investors. Park solicited investments for the purpose of trading in a variety of securities and commodities, including off-exchange foreign currency contacts through the use of false and misleading statements.
