A lawsuit that centers on drug crimes and San Francisco’s Sanctuary City policy will again be in front of police commissioners Wednesday.

The lawsuit, brought by San Francisco resident Charles Fonseca, will be discussed in closed session, but there’s no word from commissioners on whether a resolution is near.

The litigation, which claims city officials have been shielding illegal-immigrant drug offenders from federal officials, was revived nearly a year ago by a state appeals court.

Fonseca filed the suit in May 2007. A Superior Court judge dismissed the case, saying state law was interfering with federal immigration authority, but the appeals court ruled 3-0 that California has an interest in enforcing drug laws.
