Former Congressman and Newsmax TV political analyst J.D. Hayworth dismissed any notion that Donald Trump has flip-flopped on immigration, asserting that Trump is "softening his tone, but not his intent."

In his segment titled "The Way I See it" on Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Prime," Hayworth said those claiming Trump has reversed his position are not Trump supporters.

"The fact is, Donald Trump has not changed his policies," Hayworth said, prior to playing a clip from an interview he did with Trump back in 2015. "Here's what he's doing softening his tone, but not his intent."

Hayworth noted that saying "reunite those families in their country of origin" is a softer way to say, "deport."

"The reason Trump is speaking more softly is simple: The poll numbers are pointing to it," Hayworth said. "The term 'deportation force' doesn't poll well, but here's the reality: we already have two deportation forces. One is the border patrol. The other goes by the acronym ICE — Immigration, Customs and Enforcement.

"The problem is President Obama has turned them both into welcome wagons for illegals," Hayworth said.

But a President Trump would ensure those agencies go back to enforcing existing laws, and he would build a border wall and remove sanctuary cities.

"It's clear — Trump remains tough on illegal immigration, but he will speak a bit softer," Hayworth concluded.
