Former DMV employee faces fraud charges
POLICE
HORRY COUNTY
A former Department of Motor Vehicles employee from Loris faces charges in connection with a scheme in which motorists were able to fraudulently obtain driver's licenses, according to a state investigation.
Cathlean Legarde, 43, is charged with unlawful issuance of a driver's license and misconduct in office.
An investigation conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division at the behest of the Department of Motor Vehicles determined that Legarde along with others conspired to issue licenses to people even though they didn't have the proper documents.
That happened on 10 different occasions from January 2005 to June 2006 where the individuals applying for their license furnished either false or unverified information, according to the court papers. Legarde was arrested Monday. She was later released, according to a jail official at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
