SC: Indictments in child porn, illegal alien, drug cases

A federal grand jury in Columbia returned indictments Thursday in the following cases:
• Archie H. Campbell, Jr., 43, of St. Matthews was charged in a one-count indictment alleging that on March 12, 2007, he possessed child pornography.
In a separate case, Michael Griffin Sharpe, 49, of Columbia, was also charged in a one-count indictment alleging that on April 11, 2006, he possessed child pornography.
The maximum penalty Sharpe and Campbell could receive is a fine of $250,000 and/or imprisonment of 10 years.
This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
• Cristobal Alvarez-Esparza, 25, Jose Luis Sanchez-Castaneda, 34, Joan Sebastian Alonso-Armedariz, 23, and Rogelio Rojas-Sanchez, 34, all of Mexico, were charged in separate one-count indictments alleging that on June 30 all of the defendants used, possessed and obtained falsely-made and counterfeit Alien Registration Receipt Cards, which are used as evidence of authorized stay, employment, and lawful entry into the United States.
The maximum penalty for this offense is a fine of $250,000 and/or imprisonment for 10 years.
