The Iowa attorney general's office says investigators have executed a search warrant at the Agriprocessors Inc. plant in Postville, which was the site of a huge Immigration raid in May.

The attorney general's office said in a short statement that no one was arrested Friday when the northeast Iowa plant was searched. Officials wouldn't comment on what investigators were looking for at the facility, which is the world's largest kosher meatpacking plant.

On May 12, it was the site of one of the largest single-site Immigration enforcement operations in U.S. history. Federal Immigration agents arrested 389 workers during the raid.

Earlier this month, the Iowa Labor Commissioner's Office said an investigation which spanned several months uncovered 57 cases of child labor law violations at the plant.

The Iowa attorney general's office said it is serving as prosecutor at the request of the Allamakee attorney's office. It's role is "the enforcement of state laws in connection with investigations arising out of the May 12 activities at the Agriprocessors Postville facility," the statement said.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa State Division of Labor are heading the investigation.

Telephone and e-mail requests for comment from a spokesman for Agriprocessors weren't immediately returned.

Top executives and the plant's owners have not yet faced any charges in connection with the raid or alleged child labor violations. Two lower-level supervisors have pleaded guilty to Immigration charges.

Earlier this week, Martin De La Rosa-Loera appeared in federal court in Cedar Rapids and pleaded guilty under an agreement with prosecutors to aiding and abetting the harboring of undocumented immigrants.

Last week, Juan Carlos Guerrero-Espinoza pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to hire illegal immigrants and one count of aiding and abetting the hiring of illegal immigrants.

State agents armed with a search warrant returned to the Agriprocessors meatpacking plant in Postville today, but officials would not say why.

The plant, which was the site of a major immigration raid in May, has been accused of violating child-labor laws and worker-safety regulations.

The state Division of Labor recommended earlier this month that the Iowa attorney general's office file charges against the company on the child-labor allegations. The company has denied knowingly hiring underage workers or illegal immigrants.

Bruce Stockman, who owns Best Place Auto Repair next door to the plant, said about a half-dozen cars from the Division of Criminal Investigation and the State Patrol were at the plant today morning. He said the agents and troopers stayed about two hours. "I didn't see anyone get hauled off or anything," he said.

Attorney general's spokesman Bob Brammer confirmed today that the agents had gone to the plant with a search warrant. He said he couldn't comment any further, and he noted that a search does not mean anyone is guilty of a crime.

Brammer said there were no arrests.

Company officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

No company executives have faced criminal charges in the case, though two lower-level supervisors recently pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the hiring of illegal immigrants.
