By Elaine Ayala - Express-News Some say illegal immigration costs Texas billions of dollars. Others say that ignores the economic benefits such immigrants contribute.

The question of costs vs. benefits, though contentious and unclear, brings disparate groups to agree on this: No one knows for sure how much unauthorized immigrants cost any state because hard data isn't collected.

A new study by the Austin-based Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas estimates that amount at $4.5 billion to $6 billion a year, an amount mostly spent on educating their children.

Released this week, the study's methodology was called flawed by the Migration Policy Institute and the Center for Public Policy Priorities, as well as the Mexican American Legal Defense & Educational Fund.

Written by consultant James Bernsen — who did a similar study in 2006 for the conservative Lone Star Foundation — the report found that the costs of educating children of unauthorized immigrants aren't offset by the estimated $1 billion a year in tax revenues the state collects from their parents, making such families a burden to the state.

This article show the truth about illegal immigration in America. Most of the illegals here working are not single males; they have an illegal alien spouse/girlfriend and usually U.S. born children. While taking away the job magnet is certainly important, the magnets drawing the dependents must go to. As their anchor babies arrive, one by one, and then start in the U.S. school system, these people believe they're entitled to stay. Is any effort made to identify and deport nonworking illegal alien parents of U.S born kids? This population of illegals is huge!

And American Citizens are going broke with illegals taking jobs, and then Americans have to pay for the public schools, health, and housing of the illegals with property taxes.

But remember property taxes is deducted by landlords? So are the illegals helping to support the local schools? NO

Employers have hired illegals with multiple Ids. without a thought about the harm to America. Why do illegals should multiple Ids? Well multiple federal tax filing refunds to make more money on stolen ids.

And the only tax illegals can be required to pay is sales tax. But if we go down the road of a Fair Tax, the government will do less to require compliance to immigration laws.

Does this make any sense? Will we ever again have a profitable America to reduce the taxes on the Americans Citizens?
