Sen. David Vitter: End Birth-Right Citizenship; Birth-Tourism ‘Crazy,’ ‘Nuts’

    by Caroline May
    5 Mar 2015

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) is pointing to the recent raids of alleged “birth-tourism” locations in Southern California as another reason to end birth-right citizenship.

“We need to stop automatically granting citizenship to babies born in this country,” Vitter said in reaction to the raids. “I have yet to talk to anybody in the real world, which means outside of Washington, D.C., who doesn’t think this is crazy, who doesn’t think birth tourism is nuts and should be illegal.”

Tuesday, federal officials executed search warrants in at several Southern California locations believed to be connected to birth-tourism businesses.

Birth tourism is a lucrative industry whereby, in this case, pregnant Chinese women pay to come to the U.S. to have their child born on American soil, and thus as a U.S. citizens.

As U.S. citizens, the foreign nationals’ children are eligible for all the benefits afforded to Americans, including the ability to sponsor family members to legally immigrate to the U.S.

“I’ve heard no common sense justification for this,” Vitter noted.

The Louisiana lawmaker has been pushing legislation to end birthright citizenship since 2011 with the “Birthright Citizenship Act.”

According to his office Vitter reintroduced the legislation this year. The bill would amend existing law — specifically the Immigration and Nationality Act — to prevent children born in the U.S. to foreign parents from being automatically citizens.

The exclusion would not apply to such an infant is one of the parents is a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, or an immigrants actively serving in the U.S. military.

GO VITTER!! Get it passed now while the heat is on. Steve King also has a bill in the House, so you should get together and make sure his covers yours and vice versa so we can end this craziness now. It will save Americans a fortune in Medicaid and other welfare programs. And pass the FairTax, HR 25 in the US House of Representatives and S 155 in the US Senate. That nips a lot of this tax credit and Social Security nonsense for illegal aliens and a host of other tax-craziness for illegal aliens and temporary workers in the bud.

Cross your fingers and pray. Campaign brought many promises, third month into the year, we haven't received any deliveries as promised. A retailer with such a record would know that I intended to stop doing business with him by my absence!

We don't really need a new law, to end birthright citizenship. The foreigners who are coming here to give birth are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. They are and will remain subject to the jurisdiction of their home governments.

What's really lacking - and it is a critical lack - is the will to tell these perps to bugger off.

Yes, I know, but without a law, our lawless Executive Branch through the US State Department of Morons is handing out passports and the Social Security Administration is handing out Social Security numbers, so we need a law to prohibit this moronic behavior by our incompetent, idiotic and corrupt government. I can't believe the State Department is doing this, these are the people who handle all diplomatic affairs between our country and other nations, and they don't even know to whom to issue a US passport. It's just unbelievable.

Vitter: ‘Maternity Hotel’ Raids Show Need to End Birthright Citizenship

    March 6, 2015

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) says this week’s “birth tourism” busts by federal law enforcement show the need to end birthright citizenship in the country.

Agents raided more than three dozen “maternity hotels” set up in Southern California for the purpose of those coming on visas granted for other reasons or undocumented to give birth to a U.S. citizen.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the pregnant women, mostly from China, paid $15,000 to $50,000 for their hotel stays.

“We need to stop automatically granting citizenship to babies born in this country,” Vitter said. “I have yet to talk to anybody in the real world, which means outside of Washington, D.C., who doesn’t think this is crazy, who doesn’t think birth tourism is nuts and should be illegal.”

“I’ve heard no common sense justification for this,” he added.

Vitter, who is running for Louisiana governor this year, first introduced legislation to end birthright citizenship in 2011.

He reintroduced the bill again in January, which was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee with no co-sponsors.

The bill states that citizenship would only be granted to those born in the United States who have at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen or resident alien, or an alien performing active service in the armed forces.

Vitter is great! He'll be a wonderful Governor for Louisiana, but we'll sure miss him in the US Senate. Dang.
