Sensenbrenner wants no part of immigration deal

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Menomonee Falls, wants no part of the immigration reform compromise hammered out by Senate leaders and the White House.

The lawmaker angered millions of Hispanics nationwide, when he proposed last year that it be a felony just for illegal immigrants to step foot on U.S. soil. Now, Sensenbrenner and other House Republicans say the latest plan is nothing but amnesty, a “get out of jail freeâ€

The Senate will start debating the compromise on Monday. But even if it passes, Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she won’t bring it up in the House unless President Bush can guarantee 70 Republican votes.

I can hear it now...Bush says to Nancy "give me and the boys our War and I will give you, your 70 GOP members heads on a silver plater."

Then add me to the list of those loosing it as well. Sadly, you may not be too far off the mark.

Sensenbrenner is from Wisconsin where I happen to live and he has always fought hard against illegal immigration. Unfortunately, the two state senators are Feingold and Kohl, both of whom are strong supporters of illegal immigrants.

Bring Feingold and Kohl out to California for six months and we'll see how pro-illegal immigrant they remain. These folks need a good dose of reality.

That seems totally fair to me...good idea...if I where rich I would buy a whole bunch of fake jobs adds needed ASAP in his town and then I would get them handed out in every day labor site in the country

Sensenbrenner played a huge part in saving our butt in the previous amnesty attempt!

I'm really glad he is not jumping off the cliff with the lost sheep. Hang on tight, Senator Sensenbrenner!

They're all hanging on the edge of a STEEP CLIFF by their fingers and President Bush is walking along the edge stepping on their fingers really HARD. That's about what is happening, for real.
