Sen. Robert Menendez to introduce immigration overhaul bill
Senator to introduce immigration overhaul bill

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) is expected to announce Thursday his plan to introduce an immigration overhaul bill that would put millions in the country illegally on a pathway to U.S. citizenship, news reports and immigrant rights organizations announced.
Menendez is scheduled to hold a press conference Thursday to announce the filing of a comprehensive immigration reform bill in the U.S. Senate, which could be voted on as early as the "lame duck" session after the November election, according to stories in La Opinión and Politico.
"If you look at all of the polls, overwhelmingly, people want to see a resolution of the problem. They want to see our system reformed," Menendez told Politico on Tuesday. "So clearly, you see the difference between those who are willing to move forward and get a reform and [those who are] not, and for the Hispanic community, clearly they understand who stands on their side and (who does) not."
Anti-illegal immigration activists have denounced such efforts for an immigration overhaul, calling it "amnesty." Critics say it would reward criminal behavior. Some analysts say Menendez's effort is just an election-year ploy to garner the Latino vote.
Supporters of an overhaul say reform is needed to fix what they call a dysfunctional immigration system and to bring those who are in the country illegally out of the shadows.
In response to the expected announcement, Coalition for Humane CliImmigrant Rights of Los Angeles plans a 9:30 a.m. press conference in Los Angeles to commend Menendez.
At least 100 supporters plan to attend, wearing red, white and blue T-shirts and waving American flags, according a statement sent by CHIRLA.

I don't support the hispanic comunity anymore than I have to its not my place to do that. You would think by now the hispanic comunity would want their friends and family to not be criminals in their comunity and educate them on how to become a citizens in our country through the proper channels. I am astounded at the fact that they want everybody prosicuted to the fullest extent of the law when one of their own is the victium and all laws stopped when it comes to sending criminals home. What I really can't belive is we have prostutes sorry politicions who actually give this issiue more thought than needed. When I was younger I belived the u.s. was the best place to live now I don't feel so proud. I'm thinking I should move to mexico atleast they stand behind their immagration laws and don't give the illegals as much as we do! But serously its sad that we as a society even have to debate this, the laws are in place and just need to be inforced. The only people who should have a problem are the ones who this directly affects and if it affects them its probaly because their here illegally and not being a citizen you should have no voice and not be here. Its that simple if your in search of a better life you need to do it in your country and just like me you can START WITH YOUR GOVERMENT NOT MINE!!

Unless they try to pass that garbage during the lame-duck session, it's likely too late for it to pass and was likely introduced as a means of energizing the pro-amnesty crowd to vote for the Dems.
Hopefully, in 2011, there'll be enough anti-amnesty Repubs to block any amnesty garbage that's introduced at the time.
