Senate Aides: Border Security Agreement Still Not Public

Senate aides close to the immigration debate have told Breitbart News that the still-not-published “Gang of Eight” immigration bill amendment from Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and John Hoeven (R-ND) will be filled with special carve-outs to Senators from around the country in what appears to be an attempt to secure votes needed for final passage.

“This amendment is going to be filled with kickbacks and buyoffs,” one aide told Breitbart News. Another aide close to the process concurred with that sentiment.

The amendment has still not been introduced in the Senate. Brian Fallon, the spokesman for "Gang of Eight" member Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), has not responded to a request from Breitbart News for information about the proposed amendment.

Fallon has also not addressed reporting by Breitbart News that Schumer and fellow Gang of Eight member Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) are writing the amendment for GOP Sens. Corker and Hoeven.
On the floor of the U.S. Senate on Friday morning, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) said the reason this amendment is becoming the vehicle for so many special provision is because “the bill is in trouble, panic-mode.”

According to the Huffington Post’s Elise Foley, Hoeven said Friday on Fox News that the reason the amendment is being held up is because Democrats now want to give illegal aliens federal welfare and other benefits immediately upon the bill’s passage.

“Hoeven says on Fox News that one issue holding up the amendment is that Dems want federal benefits for people on RPI status,” Foley Tweeted.
