Senate Passes Jobs Bill That Rewards Hiring Illegal Aliens

Senate Passes Jobs Bill That Rewards Businesses for Hiring Illegal Aliens

Wednesday, February 24, 2010, 12:11 PM EST - posted on NumbersUSA

The Senate passed legislation today that is the first part of a Jobs package aimed at helping America's 15 million unemployed. But the first bill, H.R.2847, will offer tax credits to employers who hire new workers, including illegal aliens.

The Senate voted 70-to-28, passing the $15 billion jobs package, including a $13 billion tax incentive for employers who hire new workers. The component of the bill exempts employers from paying payroll taxes if the new hire has been recently unemployed. The bill does not require the employers to use E-Verify, so employers could receive tax incentives for hiring illegal aliens.

The bill will head to the House for its approval of the Senate version.

The Senate is expected to begin work on a much larger jobs package next week, and Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee Jeff Sessions and seven other Senators have already expressed their desire to include immigration related provisions in that bill.

There's a new fax on your Action Board urging your Senators to protect American workers and legal immigrants who are already here by including provisions such as E-Verify.

Why do I suddenly feel violently ill? Is there not an ounce of duty toward the American people in our legislative bodies these days?

Nothing in it that will reward illegals. People are assuming things that are simply not in evidence

Because E-Verify is not mandated for these employers, of course some of them will hire cheap. illegal labor in order to reap the benefits of the bill. Why hire 5 workers at $20 an hour when you can hire 15 workers at $5 an hour?
Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist"........

Lets hope the IRS will do thier job.

I actually thought the same thing, that employers would benefit from illegals too and that still might be true. However, if it is a tax incentive, then the incentives for the employers will hopefully have to be verified at tax time. So, if they claim to not pay taxes from an employee on thier tax returns, then lets hope the IRS checks the validity of the SSN's used. Employers who hire illegals and don't pay taxes for them get a benefit anyway, so this bill will have to be a back end tax incentive, or else it is no incentive at all and just giving jobs to illegals as is the case now. If the government is going to give incentived for new employees that have been unemployed, then they wiull have to show that on the end of years taxes and as long as the IRS does thier job, then it will go to legal Americans who need it. Now, the key word here is, if the IRS does its job and checks. This is one way to think about how it is designed to work, but if it is the way is another story. It does seem to be the way it is though.

    Treason and the death sentence.

Actually, treason does still carry the death sentence, but the person who commits it has to be found guilty of it and sentenced to it.

Oh, there are plenty of ways of getting around paying taxes on the illegals you hire: make them all independent contractors where they are responsible for their own taxes at the end of the year, and a few more examples I can think of.
