TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Tucson Sector have rescued more than 175 people in the southern Arizona desert in the last 30 days.
BORSTAR officials say 52 of the 177 people were rescued in the past week.
All of them were trying to cross the southern Arizona border and were unable to continue due to heat-related illnesses.
The Tucson Sector Border Patrol continues to provide rapid response with BORSTAR.
More than 250 agents are cross-trained as EMTs and agents certified as first responders.
The Tucson Sector also has 22 rescue beacons located throughout their area of responsibility to assist those in distress.
