On Friday, Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar, along with Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ) and Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ), sent a letter to DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson and ICE Deputy Assistant Secretary Saldaña warning them not to release an illegal immigrant with drug-resistant tuberculosis into the general public.
“I was alarmed when I was forwarded a letter written by Pinal County Director of Public Health Thomas Schryer indicating that the ICE Detention facility in Florence is planning on releasing an illegal immigrant with drug resistant tuberculosis into the Pinal County Community in the next couple days,” Gosar said in a statement. “I demand ICE and DHS rethink this awful decision and not release this dangerous individual. Such actions put our citizens at risk and will impose significant financial burdens on the County.”
Dr. Thomas Schryer, Director of Public Health for Pinal County, wrote a letter explaining his concerns about releasing the detained illegal immigrant, who has been receiving treatment for seven months for his tuberculosis. “Tuberculosis is a very dangerous disease that can spread easily, due to the public health threat Arizona Revised Statutes and good public health practice dictates that we provide healthcare to treat tuberculosis for anyone residing in our county (other than those incarcerated) as a result when the ICE facility releases this individual he will be treated at the local tax payers’ expense,” he stated. “From a public health perspective it is essential that anyone who is suffering from TB be treated so they are not a health threat to others, I request that ICE pay the costs of those who are released from their facility.”
The full text of Dr. Schryer’s letter and the letter from Gosar, McCain, Flake, and Kirkpatrick can be read below.

If Congressional leaders cannot stop DHS from purposely releasing contagious diseases into the public's arena, they should not be counted as leaders. Also, if the can't prevent this it is highly indicative that someone in the Administration intends to annihilate some segment of the present and existing population,, and it is not the aliens.

Undocumented immigrant with TB will not be released from Pinal County detention facility
Reported By Allison Alexander
Written By Anthony Victor Reyes
FLORENCE - An undocumented immigrant who was being treated for tuberculosis will not be released from the Florence Detention Center after several officials expressed some concerns.
An ICE detention facility in Pinal County planned to release the detainee, who entered the U.S. illegally, because the agency had no legal reason to hold him.
Due to some concerns regarding the health of the children housed at the border last summer, Arizona Senators, John McCain and Jeff Flake, released a letter urging the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement to reconsider releasing the immigrant.
The concerns were raised due to fear that the children housed at the border were carrying diseases like influenza, chickenpox, or tuberculosis.
Monday afternoon, ICE released the following statement:
“At this time, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has no plans to release this person from custody,” said O'Keefe ICE Public Affairs Officers Yasmeen Pitts. “The detainee remains at Florence Detention Center pending a decision by an immigration judge regarding any request for a bond and whether the detainee will remain in the U.S. or be removed.”
The Pinal County director of public health said the detainee has been receiving treatment for the past seven months for a drug-resistant form of tuberculosis.

ICE says immigrant with tuberculosis won't be released
The Associated Press April 6, 2015 Updated 51 minutes ago
FLORENCE, ARIZ. — Immigrations and Customs Enforcement says a man with tuberculosis will not be released from detention in Arizona.
The man, who has not been identified, is at a detention center in Florence. Thomas D. Schryer, director of public health in Pinal County, said the agency notified him a few weeks ago that the man would be released. Schryer said the man has started and stopped treatment multiple times and is resistant to the common drugs used to battle tuberculosis.
ICE said the man was issued a removal order in 2013 and is an enforcement priority, but a judge must decide whether he will be deported.
Immigration authorities test all detainees for tuberculosis, although it's fairly rare that a detainee is diagnosed.

After media uproar, ICE halts release of immigrant with drug-resistant tuberculosis in Arizona

An Arizona sheriff is accusing immigration officials of showing “blatant” disregard to the safety of his county’s residents in a recent incident involving the release of an ill undocumented immigrant.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu says Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials were planning to let go of a man carrying drug-resistant tuberculosis ― and only halted the release after mounting media pressure.
“This is an ICE detainee ̶ so someone who is not from our country ̶ who ICE was planning just to release into our county, who had a drug-resistant immune system to TB,” Babeu told Fox News Latino.
“That was alarming to us because this is a very contagious, dangerous disease,” he added.
Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar spoke out against ICE’s plan to release the man, penning a letter demanding the agency reconsider releasing the man into Pinal County due to the potential public health risk. Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake and Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick also signed.
ICE officials eventually decided to pump the brakes on the release of the unidentified man.
“At this time, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has no plans to release this person from custody. Due to multiple previous repatriations, including a formal removal in 2013, the individual is an ICE enforcement priority,” said ICE spokesperson Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe in a statement.
She said the detainee remains at Florence Detention Center pending a decision by an immigration judge regarding any request for a bond and whether the detainee will remain in the U.S. or be removed.
But Babeu insists the agency was determined to release the man, and is only now saving face.
“They were proceeding, they were going to release this individual. And unless there was pressure applied to ICE by the public through the media, they were going to do this,” said Babeu.
The sheriff says this “close call” is just the latest of a string of incidents in which ICE officials have shown a “blatant disregard” for the safety of his nearly 420,000 residents ̶ and called out the agency on the release of hundreds of immigrants with criminal backgrounds into his county.
Back in March, an ICE report revealed 30,000 undocumented immigrants with criminal records were released nationwide. Babeu says about 500 went into his county ̶ and to date he’s been unable to get their names from immigration officials.
“We didn’t have a lot of faith in the [tuberculosis] process, given their track record here in the county of releasing a series of violent offenders here ̶ never mind the public health concern,” said Babeu.
In an appearance in front of the House Judiciary Committee in early April, ICE Director Sarah Saldaña said the release of the individuals was really in the hands of the courts. She said ICE has made serious improvements in the capture and deportation of immigrants with criminal records.
