Teen makes faces in court, despite serious charges
Just a note about this story...
This story was reported immediately after the crime took place a few days ago. Then, there was a basic description of the perp - and, through following through the details and behavior involved, I had a strong suspicion that the perp was likely to be an illegal. So, after an exercise in self-discipline and waiting just a couple days.... viola! my hunch was affirmed...
This took place in a rather quiet and small coastal town here in OR. Any violent crimes there are unusual - this one really stood out from the norm.
Note: the photo is a nice augmentation to the text as well.
Bold text added by myself as well.

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. - A 17-year-old accused of shooting a classmate in the face at a popular outlet mall on the Oregon coast made his first court appearance on Tuesday and there are now clues as to what may have sparked the crime.
Hector Canales-Robles made faces and danced in his chair while in court. He faces adult, Measure 11 charges in connection with the shooting of 18-year-old Ty Pedersen (pictured on the right), who was shot twice in the face on Saturday. Pedersen had to be flown to a Portland hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.
According to the allegations laid out in court documents, Canales-Robles was working at a clothing store at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Lincoln City when he took a break to commit the crime, going so far as to wear an all-black outfit and putting a nylon over his face.
Information in the court documents also reveal a possible motive in the crime that shocked Lincoln City - police say the victim once dated the suspect's girlfriend.
Canales-Robles and Pedersen are both upper classmen at Lincoln City's Taft High School where rumors of the love connection and possible motive are circulating.
Still, most students say Canales-Robles is a nice guy and is incapable of such a crime. "It's a shock that he did this," one student said.
However, students are overwhelmingly in agreement that if he is found guilty, he should face the toughest sentence possible.
Even the school's principal supports the District Attorney's decision to try Canales-Robles as an adult. "I'm of the opinion that at his age, right and wrong is a notion he understands," said Steve Kilduff.
In court, it was revealed that Canales-Robles is possibly an illegal immigrant. His relatives blocked our view when we turned the camera on them and were in no mood to talk after court.

Please tell me that he will go to jail and not just get deported.
The victims family needs to sue the crap out of the employer of that illegal. If he had not been there then possibly that young man would still be alive.

They need to give him about 40 years in jail and also deport his whole damn illegal family. We've got enough home grown crooks in America without importing more.

A 17-year-old suspect accused of shooting another teenager in the head at a Lincoln City outlet store last weekend committed the crime during a work break and returned to work almost immediately after the shooting, according to court documents.
Hector Canales-Robles appeared in court Tuesday through closed circuit television, during which time he made playful faces, despite being charged with attempted murder, robbery and kidnapping.
He is being held on half a million dollars bail.

The victim, 18-year-old Ty Pedersen, is being treated for gunshot wounds to the face and jaw.
Newly released court documents provide a detailed account of the case. According to police, Canales-Robles was working at a nearby store at the mall and "left to go on break just before the shooting."
Then Canales-Robles entered Springmaid Wamsutta store dressed in black clothing with "a pair of nylon pantyhose" over his face.
He allegedly robbed one cashier and then ordered Pedersen to open a safe.
“The suspect took the victim to the back of the store to go into a back office area,” said Lincoln City Police Chief Steve Bechard.
Witnesses described "two gunshots in rapid sucession."
The suspect eventually returned to work just minutes after the shooting, according to investigators.
He also has an INS hold and federal authorities said they have questions about his immigration status.
Police said physical evidence and witnesses linked Canales-Robles to the crime. They believe the crime was motivated by money.
Both the victim and suspect attend Taft High School.
