Sebastian Gorka, former deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, spoke with Breitbart News about the situation surrounding the border wall funding during Turning Point USA’s 2018 Student Action Summit.

“First thing’s first: the president is never going to go soft on this issue [of the border wall]. … Let’s remember Donald Trump built his campaign, his first big event, with then-Senator Sessions, when he put on that red MAGA hat,” Gorka told Breitbart News’ Alana Mastrangelo on Thursday in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“He knows this is why he’s president, so the wall will be built.”


As for what he expects will happen over “the next four weeks”, “Nothing is going to happen,” Gorka said. “Why? Because the GOP have no spine. Mitch McConnell, the outgoing speaker of the House as well, are RINOs on this issue. So we can’t expect a solution in the next month,” he added.

“For the next two years, the Democrats have the House, they have appropriations. So it’s not going to get built the way it should under another leader.”

Gorka says he expects to see much more progress from President Trump in the next two years regarding the wall and stated once the Republicans get the “House back after two years of lunacy under Nancy”, Republicans and the president will have a “cakewalk” with funding the border wall.

And there you have it. Mitch McConnell is not the problem, so I disagree with Sebastian on that comment, but everything else he said is absolutely 100% correct.

The votes aren't there, they aren't going to be there.

Restart the government tomorrow signing whatever you need to sign, get whatever was/is in the budget, the $1.3 billion and end this now.

This is not a fight, it's suicide.

Spend the time, energy and political capital on your plan to use surplus funds and the military to build as many sections and miles of wall as qualify which I would think they all qualify, illegal drug operations are coming in through the entire border and caravans are invading at any point they can find. So, please listen to Sebastian.

Gorka is absolutely right about Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, they are both RINOs. Neither ever supported Trump's promised border wall and both have offered nothing but resistance.

Anyone who claims the fight for border wall funding is suicide is not looking at the big picture. This is a fight Trump was forced to fight. He had no choice least he once again be labeled a liar and weak.

Furthermore, not having this fight would have probably cost him any chance he had in 2020. This is not a case where winning is everything, but it is certainly a case where not having the fight would have cost Trump everything. Another cave in on this would have sent Trump on an endless death spiral with his base supporters!

The people who label Trump a "liar and weak" aren't Trump Supporters, they're Trump Haters. This isn't about Trump, it's about securing our border and stopping illegal immigration. Just like the mid-term elections, this is a contest between the Open Borders People and the Wall People. The Open Borders People won the mid-term elections by 9 million votes, they'll win this forced over-time extension of that Election by even more. It won't be Trump who loses, it will be us and our cause.

Chuck and Pelosi aren't putting Trump to bed, they're putting us to bed. Trump may win in 2020 or he may lose, with a wall or without one, but he's not actually the target. We are. Were the deplorable crazy radical Wall People who were willing to destroy the lives of federal workers and suppliers, cost Americans trillions in lost pensions and investments, and rain all over our most important national holiday, Christmas.

The Wall is different than the 25 Billion Dollars in Border Security. The complete Wall will be built with the Shutdown money plus funds already in hand. The reporting has been inaccurate on the point. The problem is, without the Wall, much of the rest of Dollars are wasted!

When you say "you" who exactly are you addressing? I gave up believing everything Trump says long ago. For me it all started when he refused to immediately end DACA as promised. Since then there there has been other broken promises. People are finally coming to the realization that Trump says a lot of things that he either has no intention of doing, changes his mind on the next day, like ending birthright citizenship through an executive order, or simply can't do.

I know you would like us to believe Trump's word is gold, but as history shows us, that just isn't true.

I am in the Oval Office & just gave out a 115 mile long contract for another large section of the Wall in Texas. We are already building and renovating many miles of Wall, some complete. Democrats must end Shutdown and finish funding. Billions of Dollars, & lives, will be saved!

I'm addressing the people who support the government shut-down. Any government shut-down is wrong any time it passes the time period of a timing lapse and we've exceeded that as of today. DemoQuacks must end this charade and pass the funding bills so government can resume full funded operation.

Oh I think it will be very clear if it's not already who the liars and deceivers are. I think Trump is going after them, too. And rightly so!!

Actually we may have lost so many Republicans in the mid-terms because many typical Republican voters are sick and tired of RINO Republicans who support open borders, increased foreign labor, and illegal immigration! Many people probably stayed home simply because they weren't enthused by what they consider traitorous Republicans. With the exception of David Brat and Dana Rohrabacher, we were successful in getting rid of many Republicans who consistently stand against our cause. In some folks book, that's a good thing. If you can't excite the voters, don't be surprised when they stay home on election day!

As for Trump, a lot of us aren't Trump lovers or haters ..... we just expect Trump to keep his promises to us and to do our bidding as he led us to believe he would when he sought out our votes. When he fails to do that and attempts to deceive us, we're not happy campers. It's no secret that Trump has lied and has shown weaknesses at times. Anyone that claims otherwise is probably in denial.

Trump is a salesman and will sale anything he thinks he can get folks like you to believe. Trump can't build what he has no funding to build.
