It's just their way of trying to make the citizens of Sf feel safe and to not demand a complete reversal of the sanctuary policy. These people are so complacent, it's maddening. OH IT'S OK SAN FRANCISCANS! 3 OF YOUR FELLOW CITIZEND DEAD NOT BECAUSE OF OUR OPEN BORDERS LOBBYING AND SANCTUARY CITY POLICY! NO, NO NO, IT'S JUST BECAUSE IT WAS A CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY!!!! SO FEEL SAFE!!! AS LONG AS YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE A GANG MEMBER, COME ACROSS ONE WITH A GUN DRIVING AROUND TOWN (IS THAT NOT AGAINST THE LAW???), AND SO ON AND SO FORTH YOU'RE SAFE! THE BOLGNA FAMILY NOT SO MUCH BUT WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN???
IN 3-2-1 WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BOLOGNA FAMILY HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. ALL IT PROVES IS GANG MEMBERS AND IA RULE THE STREETS AND INNOCENT CITIZENS ARE AT THE MERCY OF THEM AND THE GOVERNMENT.

S.F. slaying of dad, sons called gang related
Bob Egelko, Chronicle Staff Writer
Monday, July 28, 2008
More... (07-2 21:45 PDT -- The fatal shootings of a father and two sons in San Francisco's Excelsior district June 22 were not road-rage killings and instead were motivated by the killer's belief that his targets were in a rival gang, the head of the police homicide unit said Monday.
"We know it is gang related," Lt. Mike Stasko told the Board of Supervisors' Public Safety Committee. Stasko said the victims, Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons, Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16, were attacked because of their appearance.
"Apparently, the people in the car were similar to Hispanic males, and they were targeted because of (seemingly) being Hispanic males.
"It had nothing to do with road rage," Stasko said.
The Bolognas were gunned down in their Honda Civic as they were heading home from a Sunday afternoon family barbecue in Fairfield. Edwin Ramos, 21, has pleaded not guilty to triple murder charges.
Police initially said the shooting was the product of road rage after a chance encounter between the two drivers. Tony Bologna had to stop his car on narrow Congdon Street and blocked the path of a car that was turning onto the street, police said.
As Stasko, who coached youth basketball with Bologna, described it the day after the shootings, the other driver stared at Bologna, who backed up his car to let the other vehicle by. The driver then drove alongside and, without a word, opened fire.
But on Monday, Stasko told reporters the Bolognas were attacked because the killer mistook the victims for gang members. The Bologna boys, he said, had short hair and were wearing baseball caps sideways.
Stasko said Monday the shootings remain under investigation.
Police have said they believe Ramos belongs to MS-13, a street gang with ties to his native El Salvador. Federal authorities said deportation proceedings against him were pending at the time of the slayings. But his lawyer, Robert Amparan, said last week that Ramos was in the United States legally.
The Chronicle reported earlier that Ramos committed an assault and an attempted robbery as an illegal immigrant at age 17, but the city's juvenile justice authorities did not turn him over to the federal government for possible deportation.

I agree Dixie. The issue is San Francisco's sanctuary city policy that shields dangerous illegal alien gang members. Bottom line: if these flawed policies weren't in effect and govt was doing its job, these three citizens would still be alive.

2. It's ok for an illegal alien scum to racially profile people, but if it's not ok for law enforcement to do it?
3. Isn't it a felony for an illegal alien to possess a gun? Wasn't there an Arab student who is being deported for posing with a gun?

The more these officials come out and speak the more I feel the crazies are running the asylum. It's excuse after excuse as if it's okay to kill people just because the Ia gang member thought they were rival gang members??? I highly doubt it! These people were normal citizens coming from a picnic and you're telling me they looked like gang members? Were they wearing bandanas? Have tatoos? Socks up to their cut off shorts??? wife beaters on? It's BS...Basically any mexican looking person isn't safe...

Why do they keep saying that he is in the country LEGALLY??????????
That should be an easy one to prove/disproveThe difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien is the equivalent of the difference between a burglar and a houseguest.
