Sheriff's capture illegal alien with 48 previous arrests

Deputies looking for Sprinter deadbeats capture suspected burglar

VISTA – Sheriff's deputies looking for Sprinter deadbeat riders found a suspected illegal African immigrant with 48 previous arrests and a man suspected in a burglary minutes earlier, authorities said.

The special enforcement was directed at Sprinter train riders in Vista ran from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
As deputies were asking to see a 26-year-old man's train ticket, they heard a sheriff's radio broadcast about a burglary on Bosna Place, near the South Santa Fe Avenue/Buena Vista Drive train station. The burglar's description matched that of the man deputies were questioning, and with further information about the crime, they arrested him, sheriff's Sgt. Joseph Mata said.

A 44-year-old Eritrean man was arrested after deputies saw him board a train without paying, Mata said. The man allegedly gave a false name at first, then deputies learned his real name and that he was in the United States illegally. He had warrants and a history of 48 arrests involving drugs, immigration violations and other crimes.

Deputies also wrote eight tickets for violations of train rules and made seven misdemeanor arrests. A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violating parole.

Is there some sort of contest we don't know about for illegals who have the most arrests without getting deported?
