Feds: Minimal impact on vegetation from fencing
Feds: Minimal impact on vegetation from fencing

BISBEE, Ariz. - A federal plan for building six miles of fencing and roads along the Mexican border west of the San Pedro River in Cochise County says there will be minimal impact on vegetation.
But a survey by the National Park Service earlier this year shows that the construction could take out some 3,700 agave plants. And an environmental group's spokesman says the fencing will impede the movement of large animals including deer and cougar.
Officials say about 1,500 agaves will be transplanted and seeds harvested from about 50 agaves and given to the National Park Service.
The Environmental Stewardship Plan covers the area west of the river into the Coronado National Memorial. It calls for having a biological monitor present during construction to reduce adverse impacts.

I get so tired of the "environmental impact" arguments against securing the border.
Granted, I love foilage and animals as much as the next person......possibly more for all I know.......but have any of these tree huggers taken a good look at the impact IAs have had on the environment?
Animals and vegatation will adapt and make the necessary corrections.....just build the damned fence and be done with it already!!!Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
We must push through early Thurs at this critical moment
