    July 14, 2015 — Sushi chef charged with fatally stabbing woman in Mexico City cab deported by ICE to face murder charges

    A Mexican chef who allegedly used one of his sushi knives to fatally stab a female companion in the backseat of a Mexico City taxi earlier this year was handed over to Mexican law enforcement officials by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Tuesday less than two weeks after his capture in Los Angeles.     July 14, 2015 — Former Top Gun instructor to serve 600 months in prison


    Daniel Chase Harris was sentenced today to 600 months in prison, followed by lifetime supervised release, for production of child pornography, use of a facility of interstate commerce to entice a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity, receipt of child pornography, transportation of child pornography, possession of child pornography and obstruction of justice.     July 14, 2015 — ICE deports prolific terrorist fundraiser to UK


    A British national who was sentenced in federal court for multiple crimes supporting terrorism fundraising efforts was deported late Monday.     July 9, 2015 — Federal agents dismantle a heroin trafficking organization and arrest 36, including a New York state corrections officer


    Federal agents arrested 36 drug users, traffickers, Bloods gang members, and a New York state corrections officer at Riker’s Island Wednesday. The arrest follows a two year investigation by HSI, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA), the New York Police Department (NYPD), Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), and the Internal Revenue Service — Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI).     Afghan Heroin Conspiracy Foiled

    JUL 17 (WASHINGTON)

    The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) today announced charges against three significant Afghan heroin traffickers, two of which were arrested in Thailand and subsequently brought to the United States. Haji Lajaward, Amal Said Said Alam Shah, a/k/a "Haji Zar Mohammad," and Habibullah were charged with conspiring to import heroin into the United States. Lajaward and Shah were arrested in Thailand on June 13, 2015, and subsequently brought to the United States. They will be presented and arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ronald L. Ellis this afternoon. Habibullah remains at large.

    Yoeldis Melian-Mastrapa, 29, is the latest removal among eight Cuban nationals implicated in a human trafficking ring that allegedly operated in Ecuador.     Missouri truck driver sentenced in Texas to 10 years in prison for child pornography
    Timothy Glenn Williams, 50, of Carl Junction, Missouri, was sentenced July 12 by U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo to 120 months in federal prison, followed by 25 years of supervised release. He will also be ordered to register as a sex offender. Williams pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography Nov. 12, 2014.

    Bay Area woman sentenced to 6 months in prison for orchestrating asylum fraud scheme
    Buyantod Thomas, 30, of Concord, was sentenced July 9 for aiding and abetting the submission of fraudulent asylum applications. The charges are the result of a multiyear probe by Document and Benefit Fraud Task Force headed by ICE's HSI.

    Illinois man charged with federal child pornography offenses
    Ryan T. Hayman, 39, of Champaign, Illinois, was indicted July 10 by a federal grand jury in Springfield. The indictment alleges that in March Hayman distributed images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The indictment further alleges that in June Hayman possessed images and videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

    Following his prison sentence, Kevin Dale Harlow, 55, of Thornton, Colorado, was also ordered to serve 10 years on supervised release and register as a sex offender. Harlow, a member of a Lutheran Church leading a 6th grade boys’ confirmation class, possessed 3,257 unique child pornography images and 316 unique child pornography videos.
