Declining population knocks Illinois down to 6th-largest state

I think that says it all. For our most populous state to also represent the highest poverty rate and the highest number of illegal aliens and immigrants, JUST SAYS IT ALL. These policies do not work, this insanity causes hardship, suffering, desperation, unhappiness, stress and disappointment before we even get to the poverty, homelessness, welfare, taxes, congestion, pollution, stress on natural resources, smog, wildfires, mudslides, crime, income inequality and toxicity they cause.Quote:
By some measures, California has the highest poverty rate in the nation.
Many people want to live in California.
Some of them can't afford it.
California’s population: 20 million in 1970, nearly 40 million now
That's the problem with population growth. That's why the federal government has $20 trillion in debt. That's why governments and economies can never get ahead of it. California with one of the world's largest economies, creates more jobs in taxpayer funded education and health care than in any other sector with the number of manufacturing jobs too small to even mention.Quote:
The largest increase came from educational and health services with 16,700 net new jobs, followed by leisure and hospitality with 15,400. Professional business services added 13,700 jobs, while manufacturing and construction also posted gains.
It's absolutely staggering to see what's happened since the 70's due to bad trade and immigration policies.
The US depends on growth in production, not population.
And these California statistics are what I'm trying to sound an alert on, in our local issues. We are sandwiched between California and Washington----so more and more freight is coming through here and I-5 is getting impossibly choked. So, we have a big split between the progressive who want no more major roads, and the conservatives who want nothing but major roads. So now we have the progressives discussing 'congestion tolling'---so we might end up where some people pay $30 tolls? I keep saying if we have to build infrastructure to do THAT why not do something right that works for everyone---and then you get the conservatives going like whaaaa.?
