Sources: Senate GOP on Verge of Amnesty Deal

Conservatives growing uneasy about Kennedy-led negotiations

Update by Jeff: The report has been confirmed

Sources on Capitol Hill tell me the Senate may be very close to a deal on comprehensive immigration reform.

But as the immigration deal comes together, Senate conservatives are growing uneasy about the state of the negotiations, fearing that Republican leadership will sell out to the Bush Administration and liberal Democrats to give amnesty to illegal aliens.

The issue boils down to whether Senate Republicans leaders, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Conference Chairman Jon Kyl (Ariz.), will give Democrats a free pass to bring up the bill without ever giving Republicans a chance to review it. Sen. Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) is leading negotiations for the Democrats, and has so far negotiated a favorable deal for Democrats, according to sources close to the negotiations.

The Senate on Wednesday will be voting on a motion to proceed to last year’s Senate-passed immigration bill. A motion to proceed is a procedural step to start debating the legislation. It would allow leadership to present a bill to the Senate with no time for senators to actually read the legislation.

“There is concern among conservatives on the Hill that leadership will cave in on the motion to proceed on a bill that they’ve never seen,â€

I think they think if they slam this through it will put an end to the "immigration debate" for the election.

We need to let them know that there is only ONE issue on the table. The one they are trying so hard to avoid by not naming it, by denying it: Illegal Immigration>NAU.

They want to ram this into law before the majority of our elected officials can even read it or the public has any time to read it or debate it.

This deal is rotten to the core and you can smell it already!

When phoning your Senators, ask them when have they had time to read all 790 pages and how can they cast a valid vote if they don't read the whole thing>>

This is exactly what happened when they passed the Patriot Act. They didn't even bother to read it before they handed Bush the throne to America to do whatever he pleases.

Hell, this isn't representing "we the people". This is pandering to the latinos in hopes they will vote for these spineless politicians. Well I've got news for you Anglo senators, once the latinos get power they only vote for other latinos.

pjr40 you don't know how right you are. The same thing will happen with the media..they will build their own media networks, hospitals, law firms, construction companies and on down the line. They will not hire English speakers. They are prejudice and racist from the word go. If we don't enforce our EEO laws to counter this, we are going to have big big problems in this country..remember what happened in Germany.

Now, there are those latin organizations that hire English speakers all of the time, but its mainly becuase they've assimilated and most of them are good citizens. Its the ones that refuse to assimilate that are the racists.

No Republican politician, local, state or federal will ever get my vote again, until our laws are enforced and the illegals are deported. That's the message I sent them last November, and that 's the message I'll give them this time. I'll vote for a third party instead.
    REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!
