    Spartanburg, SC couple beaten to death

    Spartanburg couple found beaten to death in own home, suspect arrested

    SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WIS) - In the upstate, a Spartanburg couple was found this weekend beaten to death in their home.

    Police say 26-year-old Andres Antonio Torres of Spartanburg is responsible. He was charged with the murder of Charles Ray and Mary Ann Emery.

    After receiving a call at 8:15am Friday morning, deputies went to a house in the Drayton community and discovered the Emerys' bodies.

    Earlier deputies with Union County Sheriff's Office had advised Spartanburg County authorities they had a Chevrolet Venture Van in their jurisdiction that had been involved in a single vehicle accident and the driver of the vehicle had fled.

    Investigators believe that sometime during the early morning hours an altercation occurred between a relative of the Emery's and Torres. Some threats were made against the Emery family by Torres.

    Investigators found evidence at the crime scene that Torres had attempted to burn the house in an attempt to hide the crime.

    If you read the other article about the bust in Saluda, you will notice their last name is Torres also.
