State to deport 107 African nationals

After the Bengaluru police and officials from the Foreign Regional Registration Office arrested 107 nationals of African countries in July on various charges, the State government is now set to deport them.
Addressing presspersons here on Friday, G. Parameshwara, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, said that arrangements have been made to deport them.
The government will pay for their flight tickets and the police will would send them off at the airport. The ticket fares will be recovered from the respective embassies and consulates, he said.
The Home Minister said that they had been arrested for visa-term violations, overstaying and possession of drugs.
He said that the government is taking the stay of illegal immigrants, including from Bangladesh, in the State seriously. The government is now also verifying the documents of those from Bangladesh staying in the State.
They would also be deported if their stay was found illegal.
Referring to the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh he said that its details would be given once the investigation is complete.
