Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican man with a felony sexual abuse conviction at the Falfurrias checkpoint on Labor Day.

Agents pulled Heriberto Carbajal-Lozano from a passenger bus on Friday, according to the criminal complaint against him.

Carbajal's attorney couldn't immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.

The federal government deported Carbajal on July 16, 2001.

“Record checks further revealed Carbajal was convicted of sex abuse second felony conviction and was sentenced to 25 years in jail,” according to the criminal complaint. “Carbajal stated that his last entry into the United States was on Sept. 5, 2015, near Hidalgo, Texas.”

Magistrate Judge B. Janice Ellington charged Carbajal with illegal re-entry.

Ellington scheduled a detention hearing for Thursday.
