Some folks seem to completely ignore the impropriety factor a Session non-recusal would have brought to the Russian collusion probe. Basically anything Sessions would have done during the investigation would have appeared wrong to one political party or the other. It was a no win situation for Jeff Sessions, the investigation, and the country. As many Republican's in the U.S. Congress and legal minds have said, Jeff Sessions recusal was the right thing to do. To do otherwise would have given the appearance of bias. Jeff Sessions, being the honorable and ethical man he is, wasn't going to taint the investigation with what would have been widely considered a massive impropriety. If Trump is innocent of collusion, which I believe he is, Sessions did him a favor!

That's bull. There was no validity to the Russia "probe". No one knew that better than Jeff Sessions. The only "impropriety" is the Russia "probe" itself, which he has allowed to run wild, violating the civil rights of countless Americans, bankrupting many, using fishing expeditions from the Fruit of the Poison Tree to falsely indict, plea bargain and even prosecute and convict innocent people, all because they supported Donald Trump who won an election for President of the United States, fair and square under our election and electoral process.

Jeff Sessions recused himself to remove and dander that might fall on himself. This was a purely selfish decision and like Trump asked, "what kind of man does this?" Only someone who keeping himself out of the limelight at the expense of the rest of the country. All the good things Jeff Sessions has tried to do will not be remembered, all that will be remembered of his time as Attorney General will be trying force minor girls in federal custody for immigration violations into childbirth against their will in direct violation of federal law and recusing himself from a fraudulent and bogus investigation called the Russia "probe" to try to overturn a Presidential election. All the little tweaks and twacks on "asylum-seekers" won't matter one whit, all that will be remembered is he picked on little pregnant girls and refused to stand up for the US Constitution and the people of the United States against a vile and corrupt US Department of Justice.

What a shame. A true American tragedy.

I understand you're Trump's lead cheerleader, but I don't consider that an excuse for besmirching one of the few diehard fighters to our cause we've had in decades. IMO, you're allowing your obsession with the Russian collusion probe confuse you as to why we're here on ALIPAC and who our friends really are.

To openly dismiss what Jeff Sessions has been doing for us and to question his character, integrity and loyalty to our country over Trump is beyond the pale.

I'm glad to hear someone else say this. Last night reading the article, I thought--did I read this right?---is this Bannon?---had to read a second time.

What Jeff Sessions has done to our country by recusing himself from an investigation that he knew was bogus and fraudulent for the purpose of allowing it to run wild against innocent Americans far outweighs in damage any little tweak or twack he wants to announce on illegal immigration issues. For you to question Trump's character, integrity and loyalty to our country is beyond the pale, not surprising, but still beyond the pale nonetheless.

It's way past time for Jeff Sessions to actually do his job as Attorney General and start standing up for the American People. His failure to do so has alienated Russia at the very time that we need their support in North Korea, Syria and Iran, and as a result his goal to keep himself dander free has jeopardized our national security. I realize you're afraid of pregnant minor illegal aliens getting an abortion, but they are a non-threat to US compared to a nuclear North Korea and Iran or the zillions of refugees and ISIS fighters sneaking out of Syria into the United States.

I'm one of about 63 million Trump "cheerleaders" and by November of 2020, I'll be one of 120 million Trump "cheerleaders".

Jeff Sessions needs to step up to the plate, do his job, and end this vile investigation of Trump and Everything Trump and Everyone Trump, it's a national disgrace, it's compromising our national security, it's setting grotesque DOJ precedents for bogus political investigations to bypass the 4th Amendment, and completely violates the First Amendment rights of Americans to support a candidate, to donate to a candidate, to work on a candidate's campaign and yes even work in the administration of a candidate who wins.

The only people who are "confused" are people who put little no-brainer tweaks and twacks above the fundamental most basic constitutional rights of American citizens.

What Sessions has been doing are not "little no-brainer tweaks and twacks" as you call them. What he's doing to right the wrong direction we've been heading in on immigration is huge and much more important than Donald Trump's hurt feelings.

Six Reasons Why AG Jeff Sessions is Trump’s Hammer in the Fight Against Illegal Migra

Six Reasons Why AG Jeff Sessions is Trump’s Hammer in the Fight Against Illegal Migration

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is using his legal expertise and his authority to aggressively implement President Donald Trump’s policy against illegal immigration, even as he is getting flak from the President for recusing himself from Democratic-cheered investigations into the President’s campaign and business activities.

The next step for Sessions, says source, is the release of federal regulations that will replace the 2015 Flores settlement which requires officials to release migrants within 20 days if they bring children with them over the border.

The catch-and-release settlement was created in 2015 by a judge, the ACLU, and officials working for former President Barack Obama, and it has forced officials to release hundreds of thousands of Central American migrants who bring their children into the United States.

But the pending Flores regulation is just one of several major regulatory changes which Sessions which are shutting the various border loopholes which were created by pro-migration judges, advocacy groups and agency officials over the last 20 years.

“These changes are really possible because Jeff Sessions is Attorney General,” said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies. Krikorian continued:

"He both knows what has to be done, and is committed to making sure it happens. A different AG, even if he means well, would be unlikely to have both the knowledge and commitment to get these kinds of change though, and that assumes he even wanted to do so. A [George W.] Bush-retread might not even be committed to the President’s agenda … What matters are the policy changes that we are seeing, not the investigative circus which dominates the news."

    Flores Regulations

Justice Department officials “are intimately involved in the drafting and coordination of the Flores regulations,” an agency source told Breitbart News. The proposed regulations soon will be posted at a government site for public comment, officials say.

The regulations likely will allow officials to keep migrants with children in detention for at least two months, ensuring that the migrants who bring children are not released into the United States to seek jobs.

The extra time is needed because many economic migrants are legally allowed to ask judges for asylum from gangs or abusive spouses. The time allowed for detention by the pending regulation is expected to be long enough to allow border officers and judges to consider and reject claims for asylum, so allowing officials to deny catch-and-release to migrants.

The new quick-turnaround process is expected to sharply reduce the number of migrants who put themselves in debt to pay for smugglers who can guide them through Mexico to the U.S. border posts.

That reduction will help lower-wage Americans by reducing the inflow of cheap workers to U.S. employers. In 2017, for example, officials were forced to provide 400,000 work permits to unskilled migrants who Obama allowed into the country to claim asylum. The Flores regulation will likely also help U.S. children by reducing the number of migrants youths and children who are being smuggled into U.S. schools by Central American parents.

    Zero Tolerance

In April, Sessions announced a zero-tolerance policy for people trying to sneak over the border. He also sent extra prosecutors down to the border states to conduct the extra prosecutions. This policy is expected to deter future economic migrants because judges can impose a jail sentence on migrants who are caught returning after a first conviction.

According to TRAC Reports data service:

immigration prosecutions continue to climb. The latest available case-by-case records for June 2018 reveal a total of 11,086 new federal prosecutions were brought as a result of referrals from Customs and Border Protection in the five federal judicial districts along the southwest border. June numbers were up 20.3 percent from the 9,216 such prosecutions recorded during May, and up 74.1 percent over March figures. Despite this increase, only 46 percent of all Border Patrol arrests of adults in June were criminally prosecuted.

    Asylum Reform

The nation’s immigration courts are run by the Attorney General, so Sessions has the legal authority to set precedents, procedures, and rules for ordinary immigration judges and for the Board of Immigration Appeals. He has used that power to end the Obama-era policy of awarding asylum to Central American migrants who claim “credible fear” of abuse by spouses or by criminal gangs.

“Starting in January 2018, court findings of credible fear began to plummet,” says a report by TRAC Reports. The “dramatic change” is shown in the data, says TRAC:

By June 2018, only 14.7 percent of the CFR [credible fear] Immigration Court decisions found the asylum seeker had a “credible fear.” This was just half the [30 percent] level that had prevailed during the last six months of 2017 …

Unless the asylum seeker who is otherwise subject to expedited remova passes the [courtroom] CFR review, he or she is not allowed even to apply for asylum. This applies to most parents arriving with children at the southwest border. As a consequence, individuals who don’t pass these reviews are usually quickly deported back to their home countries.

This reform is expected to force a rejection of the many of the 700,000 asylum cases launched during Obama’s terms. The ACLU and other pro-migration groups are suing Sessions’ agency to block the reforms.

    Ending “Administrative Closure”

Sessions has ordered immigration-court judges to stop the practice of “Administrative Closure,” which was used by overburdened judges to discard deportation cases during the mass migration of Central Americans in Obama’s tenure. Roughly 350,000 migrants were excused from deportation via this process, but Sessions has directed agencies to “recalender” these deportation cases.

Sessions ordered the change via his review of an immigration case titled “Matter of Castro-Tum.”

The Sessions reversal was shown in a chart released by the Executive Office which reveals that 1,077 cases were revived by the Department of Homeland Security in July 2018, up from roughly 755 cases per month since October 2017.

Overall, the number of cases being set back to the courts is on track to reach almost 10,000 in 2017, up from 8,397 in Trump’s first year, and 4,847 in Obama’s final years.

    Streamlining Immigration Courts

On March 5, 2018, Sessions formally vacated a 2014 immigration-court decision, dubbed “Matter of E-F-H-L,” and told the 350 immigration-court judges that they could rely on submitted written evidence to avoid full hearings in some deportation cases. This reform will speech up courtroom hearing and help reduce the huge backlog of roughly 700,000 asylum that allows many migrants to stay in the United States for several years.

The TRAC data shows that Sessions has halved the rate at which migrants win deportation cases, from roughly 56 percent in 2017 down to roughly 28 percent in 2o18.

That percentage shift means that far more migrants are being sent home under Sessions’ watch that under Obama’s tenure. The deportation numbers are rising from almost 80,000 in 2016 to more than 120,000 in 2018, says TRAC:

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Amnesty

Obama offered a legal blind-eye and work permits to roughly 800,000 younger illegals via his 2012 DACA amnesty, and then tried in 2014 to offer similar benefits to roughly 3.5 million illegal immigrants who have children in the United States via the so-called DAPA amnesty.

The DAPA measure was struck down by a Texas court in 2015, and the DACA measure likely will be ended in 2019 because of Sessions’ continued legal pressure in various courts.

The loss of work permits by roughly 800,000 illegals will pressure Democrats to make concessions on Trump’s “Four Pillars” immigration policy.

That's all good stuff, but there's still way more coming in than he's deporting, so it's still just tweaks and twacks, after they're in, waiting in line for years, even with his tweaks and twacks for a faster smoother deportation hearing. Nothing that Sessions is doing as AG is going to make any long-term difference, because the next Democrat Attorney General can reverse it, just as a Democrat-controlled Congress can pass a veto-proof law against it.

The fact is we're all so desperate for SOMETHING on illegal immigration that we're glamorizing tweaks and twacks while jeopardizing our own civil rights and national security. I won't be one who does that. Just because you do some things right and then don't do the rest of your job because you don't want dander on your lapels will not fly with me or any Trump Supporter.

The situation with Attorney General Jeff Sessions is really a mess. He is most knowledgable on illegal immigration. He knows the loopholes and the truth as it relates to numbers present and their impact on crime, drugs, gangs, terrorists, schools, incarceration, health, jobs, lives. He has done some good things.

President Trump is upset that he was not told before he selected Jeff Sessions as Attorney General that recusal was probable. This is a thorn in his side. The Russia collusion probe has been allowed by Asst. Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, and it has gone far afield from its reported intent. Rod Rosenstein is reported to be a witness and possibly part of the mischief with the FISA filings.

The fact that Mueller's charge was not a narrow one gave Mr. Mueller and his team an open road that allowed for his crew to refer people to investigate for various reasons to New York where most in state government despise President Trump and where he cannot give pardons if considered.

President Trump believes that had Attorney General Sessions not recused himself he would have prevented the open season on all things Trump. President Trump himself, his family, the Trump organization, associates are targets. It has never been about Russia. It has been from the start about stopping President Trump, who they never believed would win, from draining the swamp, from dismantling the cabal of globalists who make millions and live cushy lives colluding with a whole bunch of unsavory people, including foreign governments and entities.

I don't know where you came up with the term, "tweaks and twacks" but it is a total fail when describing the major policy changes Sessions has made and is making concerning immigration. Our immigration failures weren't created overnight and even Jeff Sessions can't fix them overnight. However, his policy changes are already make huge difference and they will become more noticeable in the months to come as long as he's around to stay the course.

Nothing that Sessions is doing as AG is going to make any long-term difference, because the next Democrat Attorney General can reverse it, just as a Democrat-controlled Congress can pass a veto-proof law against it.
So, according to your thinking no one should do anything because their eventual predecessor can just reverse it. I assume you are also talking about any policy changes or actions, outside passed law, by President Trump. Hell, even passed law can be repealed or replaced. Your comment on this is nonsensical.

The fact is we're all so desperate for SOMETHING on illegal immigration that we're glamorizing tweaks and twacks while jeopardizing our own civil rights and national security.
As I said earlier, major policy changes are not "tweaks and twacks" as you say. Those changes are closing loopholes and correcting failed policy from past administrations. They will without doubt make a big difference. That's a fact that will become more clear in the months to come.

Just because you do some things right and then don't do the rest of your job because you don't want dander on your lapels will not fly with me or any Trump Supporter.
That comment places AG Jeff Sessions personal integrity and ethics into question. His recusal had absolutely nothing to do with "dander" on his lapels. Recusal, according to many legal minds and influential Republican's was the correct thing to do. Besides that, you seem to be under the impressions Sessions knew he was going to recuse prior to his selection as our nations Attorney General. There is no evidence to support such an assumption.

You are so wrong and anyone whether Republican or Democrat who thought recusal by Jeff Sessions from a bogus, fraudulent political witch hunt against American citizens that he or any other Attorney General is appointed and confirmed by the Senate to stop is just as wrong. Some people see things as they are early and cry foul, that's me, others follow the wrong and see it much later after much damage is to many is already done, that's most Republicans in Congress, while a few never do, and that is you.
