Steve King Denounces 'Creeping Effort' to Push 'Irrational' Amnesty This Year

On Saturday, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) denounced the "creeping effort" in Congress to pass what he said was an "illogical" and "irrational" "comprehensive amnesty" bill this year.
Appearing on Breitbart News Saturday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 with Breitbart News Executive Chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon, King said Republicans and Democrats are "looking for some kind of opening" to grant amnesty to "some sympathetic group," which would then allow them to keep broadening categories until all of the country's illegal immigrants are given amnesty.
King cited the ENLIST Act that would have given citizenship to illegal immigrant DREAMers who join the military as one such example. House Republicans ultimately decided not to include that amendment in a Defense Authorization bill after intense pressure from conservatives and veterans.
He told Bannon at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans that the White House is pushing for amnesty because it is an issue that divides Republicans and unites Democrats.
Though there is no data that shows that Mitt Romney lost the 2012 presidential election because Republicans did not support amnesty, the Republican establishment, King said, is joining the White House on amnesty because they are being influenced by multi-billionaires who have been "so sucked up into the culture of the good old boys that they can't think any longer."
King singled out Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, who has run attack ads against King, as well as George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and "the Google moguls" as having "a vested interest" in getting amnesty legislation passed, despite, as the Congressional Budget Office determined, it would lower the wages of American workers.
King said amnesty "goes against the middle class and lower class" in America and said the only people who do not benefit from the "ridiculous economic proposition" would be American citizens, especially low-skilled workers.
If amnesty passes, King warned that "we will not restore the rule of law within the lifetime of this republic."
And if the republic cannot restore its rule of law, King said America's "destiny collapses" because "an exceptional pillar of American exceptionalism is the rule of law."
