Taxpayers will pay for keeping dreamers here

All we read about are college-educated Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients as if they were the majority. The pro-DACA Migration Policy Institute published a 2014 report that fewer than 10 percent of those potentially eligible for DACA held a two-year vocational college qualification or higher, only 1 percent had an advanced degree and about 30 percent did not have a high school diploma.

The pro-DACA Center for American Progress revealed in a survey that 75 percent earned less than $25,000 with only 25 percent earning enough to cover monthly expenses. DACA unemployment is estimated between 9 percent and 16 percent, far above the 4.3 percent nationwide unemployment rate.

Legalization for DACA recipients will cost taxpayers huge sums of tax dollars for welfare, subsidized food and housing, among other public benefits.

When we have every American off welfare, terminated fraudulent workers’ compensation and disability benefits, transitioned the homeless off the streets into jobs, then we can talk about dreamers.
