An unidentified student was shot and killed inside an English school in Juárez Tuesday night, while a beheaded body was found near Tec de Monterrey University in Chihuahua City, state authorities said.

According to an official from Juárez, gunmen entered an English night school and shot one of the students but no one else was hurt.

The gunmen attacked the academy, located at Velarde and Plan de Ayala streets within the Los Nogales neighborhood in Juárez, officials said.

In Chihuahua City, a 40-year-old man was found tortured and beheaded near Tec de Monterrey, a prestigious Mexican school.

The unidentified victim was found in Cumbres de Sebastián in Chihuahua. The head was found nearby.

Earlier, also in the state capital Chihuahua, four young men were killed during a drive-by shooting incident, a Chihuahua State Attorney spokesperson said.
The killings took place in the Revolución Mexicana neighborhood.

In Juárez, where around 3,113 people were killed during 2010, three other people were riddled with bullets in various locations, officials said.

José Manuel Rivas López, 41, was shot to death in the 1103 block of JoaquÃ*n Soto Mendoza and Teniente Daniel GarcÃ*a within the Oasis Revolución neighborhood.

The victim suffered stomach wounds.

State detectives recovered 64 bullet casings and two vehicles.

A 25-year-old unidentified male was found shot to death around Mexcala y Tixtla and Hermenegildo Galeana streets, officials said.

The victim was shot at close range in the head. State detectives recovered 16 .223-caliber bullet casings.
In another incident taking place at Cinco de Mayo and Vicente Guerrero avenues in downtown Juárez, a man identified as Francisco Javier López López, 23, was wounded in the face, head and tummy, authorities said.

He later was pronounced dead at a clinic.

Despite all these homicides, Mexican authorities claim that killings in Juárez have fallen nearly 60 percent.

"From a daily average of 11 murders in Juárez in October 2010, we have seen four killings per day in April 2011," Alejandro Poiré, a National Safety spokesperson, said last week in a written statement after meeting in Juárez with Mexican President Felipe Calderón. Also, he said, 68 kidnappers have been arrested, 10 criminal gangs were busted by federal authorities, 73 alleged extortionists had been captured and seven groups of extortionists were broken up.
