This is a must-read for every illegal alien in the U.S. hoping to feast on America's bounty the way a parasite feasts on its host.
Yes, many illegals might not be able to read this since it's in English. But their children soon can translate since they have a so-called right to a "free" public school education paid for by taxpayers.
Horace Greeley, the legendary newspaper editor in the 19th century, supposedly said to those seeking a better life, "Go West, young man." If Mr. Greeley were alive today, surely he'd be telling the millions of illegal aliens who sneak in from Mexico, "Go Northeast, young hombre, and stop at Alexandria, Va."
The politicians who run Alexandria approved a resolution on Tuesday that states the city may hand out rental and burial assistance, job placement assistance and emergency Medicaid without demanding proof of legal residence, according to The Washington Times.
That is in addition to the illegals' rights to free schooling, public health care and police protection. Pity that the resolution made no mention of giving every illegal a key to the city. But, then again, in light of what illegals may now get, that would be redundant.
The Alexandria resolution, which was passed unanimously, also states that police officers will check the immigration status of people who commit "serious crimes." But the sheriff's office will be assigned that task to lessen the burden on the city police, said Mayor William Euille.
The "whereases" and the "therefores" of the politically correct resolution blather on about "international diversity" and "celebrate the inclusiveness and diversity." At the end of the Tuesday night meeting, did everyone there form a circle to do a group hug and then start singing "We Are the World"?
A spokeswoman for the city replied to e-mail and phone calls requesting an interview with the mayor for this column. She said that someone would call back. No one had by deadline.
"When asked about the cost of providing all government services to illegal aliens, Mayor William Euille responded (according to the newspaper story), 'We don't calculate that, and we probably won't calculate that,' " said Ira Mehlman, media director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform in Washington, D.C., in his e-mail reply.
"Then what exactly does Mr. Euille's job entail, if not to calculate how the public's money is being spent and ensuring that it is spent wisely, responsibly and in the public interest? If that statement does not identify Mayor Euille as the most irresponsible public official in the country, it is hard to imagine who is," Mr. Mehlman said.
"In the resolution to protect social diversity, illegals have become part of the American mosaic," says Mark Krikorian, head of the Center for Immigration Studies, also in Washington. "They (illegals) have become another grievance group.
"Every local jurisdiction either supports legal immigration or subverts it -- they cannot claim to be neutral," Mr. Krikorian says.
This is a flagrant attempt to commandeer taxpayer dollars to subsidize colonization, says Peter Brimelow, editor of the immigration Web site vdare.com.
"The mayor says, 'We are reaffirming and recommitting our services and outreach to international citizens.' " Mr. Brimelow asks, "What's an international citizen?"
