    Sanctuary laws are unsafe

    Sanctuary laws are unsafe

Illegal aliens are being protected by sanctuary laws, but at the risk of American citizens

    By: Travis Holland

Edwin Ramos is an illegal alien from El Salvador. He’s also an alleged murderer. On June 22, 2008, Ramos was involved in a traffic altercation with 49-year-old Anthony Bologna and Bologna’s two sons. Ramos got a case of road rage, pulled out an AK-47, and wiped out the majority of a family.

The saddest part of this case is that Ramos had already been arrested twice on gang related felony charges, but the federal government was not notified so that he could be deported. This is because of a senseless sanctuary law enacted by the city of San Francisco. The law states that local law enforcement officers can’t notify federal immigration agencies, even when they arrest an illegal alien.

If this ordinance didn’t exist, the Bolognas would still be a happy family, because Edwin Ramos would have been deported before he had a chance to gun down Anthony and his two sons.

The reason for the law is to show "compassion" for illegal immigrants in the U.S. But when incidents like the one this June occur, the law directly fails a government’s first responsibility - to protect the safety of its citizens.

In San Francisco’s case, the law’s only purpose is to keep convicted criminals in the country. By not reporting their arrests to

immigration agencies, their safe passage in the U.S. is guaranteed. People who come to America illegally and commit crimes are not the type of people city governments should be worried about showing compassion to.

Ramos had already been arrested twice
But catch and release has been going on for how long, everyone?

30, 40, 50 or more years..... just look the other way governments here in AMERICA!

And locally it is worse because the cities are putting your very life in danger.

It is sickening that if you complain, you are the one in the wrong because you don't accept the invasion of illegal criminal aliens.

Lives are in danger by the rich who control the cities; North Carolina Attorney General are you listening.

If you voice your opinion against immigrants you might be killed, it is that bad!

We know the Governor's Office is not listening.

Surprisingly, sanctuary laws like the one in San Francisco also exist outside the extreme political environment of California.

Across the U.S., similar laws allow illegal immigrants, many of whom have committed crimes, to stay in the country. There is a hodgepodge of laws, ranging in lenience from those in San Francisco to others that merely allow illegal aliens to live without fear of being prosecuted for their illegal status.

In Houston, just an hour and a half away from College Station, police officers can't stop or arrest a person solely on the belief that they are here illegally. In fact, Houston police officers can't even inquire about a person's citizenship status. However, unlike extreme cases such as San Francisco, they are able to contact federal immigration agencies if an illegal alien is arrested on other charges.
