Suspected illegal immigrant accused of robbing house
    Friday, October 20, 206
    From staff reports
BELVIDERE | A 32-year-old Absecon, N.J., man was charged Monday with second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal attempt to commit robbery and the third-degree charge of making a terroristic threat.

Baldomero Herrera Heraz, a suspected illegal immigrant, allegedlyattempted on Sept. 28 to rob the Tamarack Road residence of Nichelle Rando with Craig W. Lang, court documents say.

The two men planned the robbery and even drove by Rando's husband's place of work to ensure he wasn't home, records say. Lang was supposed to go to the door, and when Rando answered Lang was supposed to push her into the house, records say. Rando came to the door carrying her infant son and Lang told police he lost his nerve, records say.

Lang instead told Rando he was having car trouble and needed tools, records say. Rando told him to meet her at the garage, and once in the garage Heraz pinned Rando's arm behind her back and told her she was being robbed, records say.

Lang told police he then tried to play it off as a joke and the pair left, records say.

Heraz's wife, Cynthia Heraz, made statements to the police after she overheard conversations with her husband and Lang. Police tracked Lang down when Rando wrote down the license plate of the rental car the pair had used, court records said.

Before Cynthia came to police to make a statement she confronted her husband and he allegedly called her names, told her he would kill her if she said anything and hit her with a tequila bottle.

He was released from Warren County jail Oct. 16 after posting $50,000 bail.

I'm a firm believer that illegal immigrants should not be eligible for bail. IMO, they all pose a serious flight risk.
